NPD reports that Sony had sold 700,000 units at the end of December. Assuming they could have sold some 100,000 in Canada to say the least, the sales figures aren't bad at all considering very few games have been released so far and that the sales figures are not so up to date as the shipping figures. In any case though, PS3 (700K) sold more units than 360 (600K) in the US at launch, despite having a higher price tag, more than expected supply issues, less games and far more competition than 360 had last year. We could also argue that it's a Japanese product VS an American product in the US, which could make it even more difficult to sell well somehow. NPD data and many industry stories indicate the sell-through numbers aren't too hot, folks. So the big question is what is Sony going to do to rectify this problem? Or are gamers going to get a rehash of Sony circa-PS2 release where they simply ignored many of the PS2 launch systems?
