On a hacker forum I belong to a member is claiming that he has found away to exploit the PS3 OS and steal CC info. He has also found exploits in windows in the past that have been huge.

Thank god he normally give the company 3 months after finding the exploit and contacting them before he uses it.

i’d rather it was like the 360 cards. just one card you constantly top up,much better for the environment. i hope they bring it to Europe though.

I dont think you need to be worried. Hackers try to go for the highest casualty and sadly right now PS3 is not it. Thats another reason why Macs dont get many viruses because hackers dont attack macs that much since windows users are so many times more. Plus the 360 should be the target if any hackers are trying to hack consoles since it has a larger userbase.

Also, dont your european credit cards have fraud prevention? I know my US card has them and i had it happen to me once - filled out a form and was refunded in 2 weeks.

sweetasman01: I don’t blame you for not wanting to purchase things online, especially not the European store, but I’m interested in the apparent fact that there are exploits in the ps3 os, especially remote exploits. Where did you hear such a thing? It’s not like the ps3 is running Windows.

Easily hacked?? Did you see that competition to change a photo to win a PS3??

That photo was hosted on the PS3 you were trying to win and nobody could hack the system…the PS3 is more secure and safe than Windows and people regularly buy things using a Windows based PC.

The PS3(Linux based OS) is very secure and Sony will keep it that way with firmware updates.

Firewall? Most people will use the firewall in-built into their router to keep their PS3 safe, I know I do.

Well sony europe wont be seeimng ANY of my money now. Since I am going to import my games from the US/Japan and WONT buy stuff online because I dont trust sony with my credit card info on online especially since the PS3 donest have a firewall and can easily be hacked via the internet though a few expolites in the OS.

Actually, if you can buy those cards online to play purchased Japanese PSN games in other regions, that could be rather nice. Even better if they do it with Hong Kong, since the games are probably already in English.
