The reason has to do with SONY's strategy with the PS3 OS features. Adding a (rather crappy) browser to the PS3 OS was made with the plan to use it not just for the PSN, but also for developers to use when they want customized PSN access from within their games. All they have to do is start the browser software module and point it to the adress of their shop and everything works out. SONY's approach of lets just give the developers the freedom to do whatever they want is a near catastrphic one in my opinion. Game developers (in par due to the publishers that have them in their chains) should be treated like the retarded hamsters that they mostly are. Specially the western developers shy away from any sort of challenge, and why shouldn't they? They are given almost no money and less time time to get things done. If they see the oppotunity to slack off they will make full use of it. SONY, for the love of god, please get the message. Giving the developers the freedom to do whatever they want is not the way forward. Give them specific and well defined goals to live up to and the tools to help them do it as fast as possible. m$ knows how retarded developers are, just look at how crappy and bloated windows is. They know that they have to hold the developers hands and guide them through the whole process and make sure they do everything right. Developers need to be forced to implement and develop certain features into every PS3 in order to have them released on the PS3.
