i can remeber the ps1 and the ps2 being slow starters in the games category but it didnt stop them from dominating the market in the end, and theres no reason to see y it shouldnt follow suit this generation!

all u muppets that own ps3’s and slag it off are doing nothing but fanning the flames of xbox fanboys. so my question to u is- why didnt y either wait to buy when there are more games to lay? sony forced nobody to be early adopters! uv made ur choice, paid ur money and couldve done a lot worse believe me! i have owned 2 360’s in the past and the 2nd one just sat in my room and gathered dust cos i was playing a far superior games machine at the time- my ps2!

so stop whining and either- a, sell ur ps3 and shut the fuck up! or- b, be thankful uv got a powerhouse of a machine that will get better and better over time and shut the fuck up!

I’ve been waiting for someone to provide a decent digital home/joined up media solution for ages and Sony have finally nailed it. After months trying to configure and use a Media Center PC with a 360 the PS3 comes along and makes the whole thing simple. Kudos for Sony for tying the whole thing together with the PSP too.

I do agree with others though. Sony need to shout about the PS3’s capabilities more. Upscaling DVD playback, Blu-Ray movies, media hub/network media player and now PVR. And yet nothing in the mainstream to educate people about this! Come on Sony. You’ve got a great machine - how about telling those who aren’t in the know.

Obviosly games are important here too though. In the UK PS3 games are still a good £10 more than 360 so they need to get more titles out and shed the perception of a ‘luxury’ pricetag.

Calling something a Playstation 3 immediately conjures up the word ‘gaming’ above and beyond any other features they bundle it with. So the PS2 could play DVDs - great, but it hardly compares to what they’ve tried to do with the PS3.

If they’re being bold enough to try to push beyond what people traditionally think of when they see that black box under the TV, why haven’t they been bold enough to come up with a new name that better fits what they’re striving to accomplish?

At least then they wouldn’t have people bitching at them when they announce new stuff that isn’t to do with playing games.

Okay, calling it a Playstation gets a huge number of existing Sony customers foaming at the mouth with anticipation, but delivering something other than what those same customers who bought PS2s are drooling about is likely to piss more than a few of them off, and you end up with defensive comments like, “Oh but we’re trying to do so much more with this console than anyone’s ever done.”

Great, but we were kind of expecting a games console.

On another note, given how hard and expensive it’s been for developers to get to grips with the PS3 processor, it’s hardly surprising things have been quiet on the games front.

There’s a similar reason why Wii games have had varying receptions - games developers are still getting to grips with how to program for the control system in a way that doesn’t suck.

It also explains why 360 enjoys a raft of new and exciting title announcements every quarter - programming for the processor has been established further in advance and the control system is not quite as complex or expensive.

Go on your own forums and listen to what people want. They don’t want sky they want decent games on PSN they want to stop wasting £30-40 on crap ported games.

They want information first on PSN not 3 month videos that have been on GT for ages.

We have been taking grief from 360 fan boys for months and i was hoping for something to feel good about. Honestly i really thought about a 360 yesterday.

Where is home? what’s coming to PSN R&C? what are you doing about 3rd party games sucking on the PS3? I was hoping i could feel g’d up about my Sony PS3 but feel pissed off instead.

Are you blind????? Read #44 and see the titles coming out in the not too distant future. Don’t tell me you haven’t heard of these coming out. (PS Bob, you forgot Assassin’s Creed)

And this is just the PS3 games. I still buy (like millions of others) PS2 games because I can play them on the PS3 as well. Or are you bored of them now already… Soon droves of PS3 games will be coming once Unreal T3 is out as the engine which Epic and Sony have been working on will be more readily available for other developers and tons of games will quickly come out (many good ones and some bad ones too no doubt).

Now this TV->HD announcement is FANTASTIC news. Like millions of others, I don’t have Sky, I don’t want to subscribe to Sky and I don’t already have a HDD recorder. So this for me is great. If you do already have Sky + or and HDD, then simply DON’T BUY IT… No one ever seems to complain when other manufacturers bring out a freeview viewer or some kind of system to record TV on your PC/Mac or whatever, so why is it that people do when Sony do anything for the PS3!? After all, I don’t want to watch TV in my office so why the heck would I want a DVD recorder on my computer? Now my PS3 is connected to my HDTV in my living room and makes perfect sense to me to use the PS3 hard drive to record TV and play it back too. Plus the wife can watch eastenders and I can sit on the same sofa and watch the footie streamed to my PSP (with luck). And we won’t have to miss bits of programmes either as we can pause live TV and watch in our own time (just like all the Sky+ subscribers are currently doing and enjoying at the moment but we aren’t).

And as for the Sat Nav for the PSP, that’s great too. I don’t have a Sat Nav but I wouldn’t mind one for the convenience sometimes. I don’t want to pay hundreds to get one, but I may get the extras for the PSP as surely it will be much cheaper. I had visions of the PSP being used as a Sat Nav ages ago and reality is here. Now they just need to incorporate a phone into it (using bluetooth headset), a decent digital camera (wouldn’t it be great to stick an SLR lens on the back and take shots with the PSP…), a video camera too (like the iMac has), a PDA (with touch screen and pen in future PSP models), and an alarm clock would be a nice touch too.

The people that are interested in GC or even know what it is are gamers, so why give such a bold statement when you’re not even showing a single new game?? All these games (Lair, Uncharted, Ratchet…) we know they were coming a long time ago…

They only ones who are reading gaming related news such as the GC firework statements are, you guessed it, gamers! So why does Sony always have to piss them off? I just don’t get it!
