But like everything it needs to be kept it check and balanced out. Unfortunately it seems modern politics to often fall into the trap of thinking that if something works well then 'doubling it' works twice as good. Which is why we have had stupid copyright extension laws passed many places, why the patent regime is getting out of control and why in the area of security laws things getting out of proportion. Governments all over the western world are using the fear of terrorism to water down civil liberties like crazy. There need to be a public pushback towards these new policies.
