The PS3 still has forever to go before it peaks. I bought a PS3 because it will last me 5 years for top-notch stuff, and not just games. If I wanted games right now I'd have bought a 360. What tretton is saying is while they took longer developing the console and made it powerful (and therefore complex) machine. While it may be losing the battle, its built to fight the war...and win. Surely when a new product comes along you want it to set the world on fire. Instead of that confusing launch campaign they hsould have took a leaf off the Wii. Show the PS3 in the hope giving people enjoyment - not blowing up suitcases full of money with grenades. Its a metaphor that slaps people in the face... Please remember that the 360 is just a PC in a box and this is why it is easier to develop games for with the high production costs games companies have to make money. However, everyone complained about the price of the PS3 and Sony have adressed this meaning bumper christmas for the PS3 and one the volume of sales increases the greater power sony will have in the games war. I beleive that sony will win this as i beleive that the PS3 is the best machine on the market. I have to laugh at you all that keep brining down the PS3 and the negative comments. How long has it taken Halo 3 to come out to the 360? Did anyone remember the first year 360 releases? I'll tell you if you can't, they were few and far in between. The Wii, is a decent system but it's a different system. I'm glad that devs are looking at the system for more serious games but you're still going to see "minigame collection 20937209323" about every month in its lifecycle. It's CHEAP, hell I almost bought one and I'm not even interested in it yet. Back to the short term memory, the PS1 wasn't quickly adopted in the US, and the PS2 was also touted as hard to program for in comparison to the dreamcast. Seriously, the thing has been out for almost a year now, the games are coming out, Sony dropped the price to appease the masses and people are STILL complaining. I own a PS3 and a 360 and right now the former is getting more play. I knew this would happen because I know what type of games are coming to the system and my own personal taste. The PS3 will be heading towards year 2 when its OWN heavy hitters start coming (starting with ratchet and uncharted) and then we'll see where Halo 3 stands. Who cares about HD when you've got gameplay? If anything happens to my PS3 and there isn't a backwards compatible machine to replace it with, then I'll simply get my PS2 out of its box and trade the PS3 games in against an Xbox 360. Here's hoping 2008 brings another 4 decent games for the PS3. I already own all 4 decent PS3 games, and yet I’ve got a ton of PS2 & PS1 games that are far more fun to play. Their launch adverts were confusing and didn't showcase the PS3 as a must have. Since launch i have seen two adverts for PS3 games and countless Wii and Xbox adverts. PS3 games are awesome there should be adverts highlighting the games the week before they launched. i bought the PS3 at launch as I knew its potential and I am personally very happy with my purchase and am well aware that the first year of a console's release is always very poor - PS1 PS2 XBOX and 360 all have had poor first years with no must have games (PS3 has already had Heavenly Sword and Resistance which wipe the floor with anything the older competition have released). Looking forward to Ratchet and Clank; Assassins Creed; Uncharted; Haze and of course PES - 3 of these are PS3 exclusive must have games that if advertised correctly will ensure the PS3 ends it's first year (calendar) ahead of the competition. You guys are hitting all the nails on the head that I wanted to mention - especially the one from Joel, about replacing dead PS3s like for like. In fact, you're all sooo right about all your logic/arguments/disagreements, I will not bother saying another single word (until someone annoys me further down, that is)! :-) @ BENNE77, metallicorphan, Ton Capone, Joel, JohnSketch, Gonuts.
