On my 50Hz SD CRT TV, the game looks awful. The lack of anti-aliasing (I assume) means jagged edges and the whole screen looks flickery. This goes for other games using the Unreal Engine. It's not like my TV is bad; other games can look amazing. Ratchet, Burnout, and especially Call of Duty are all gorgeous. I then took the game to my mate's where he has a widescreen 42" 60Hz TV, and it looked amazing. So I have to say that the Unreal Engine does not appear to be optimized with our standard 50Hz displays in mind. Also, the widescreen videos look squashed when playing in 4:3, rather than letter-boxed. It's pretty lazy really. And the Ripper weapon has gone! My favourite! But, having said all that, I played Vehicle CTF for hours last night. It's fantastic. So all I need now is a "better" TV. Hmph... I bought this game yesterday, and was unimpressed at first.
