If so, does it affect your recordings when your controller is off? I.E, if you are recording a film longer than an hour and your controller is turned off, does it turn off (assuming you have set your power save option to 1 hour? To Mr Mistri,

It’s not working that way for you? It does for me, I have it set for 3 hours, and when I wake up in the morning my PS3 is off. Just for reference, I’m using a Japanese 60gb and using the controller connected via USB. I thought that the timer measured wether the pad was being used or not. Well, it does definitely work. For me that is. Does that mean my downloads stopping is exclusive to my console? Curioser and curioser! To Ronesh

Because PlayTV is on, the PS3 doesn’t consider itself to be inactive so will never turn off. the sleep mode will only work on the ps3 when in the xmb menu as far as i know, and not when PlayTV is activated. Thats the problem i have, because i have to physically wake up again to turn playTV off, and then i can’t get back to sleep again for ages! It would be brilliant if they did incorporate a sleep mode into PlayTV. To Mr Mistri,

The other issue I have is that there is no synergy with PSP. I would like to be able to record something on LiveTV and be able to export it straight to my PSP. I had thought that this would be an obvious option in PlayTV but it seems that I am unable to adjust the recording bitrate/format. As a result my HDD fills up with MPEG2 files that have to be manually exported to the XMB, then copied to PC, then converted to MPEG4 then copied to PSP. Sony please make it so that we can change the recording format, I am constantly running out of disk space. Even my backup drive is full to the brim. Also the info box would be improved by being more transparent and great if it had the option to make it smaller. Finally it would be good to have the same controls as PS3 video player so that Playstation brand is not scattered. I would like slow motion advance too. I just get frustrated that I can do things on PS3 video player that are so different or unavailable on PlayTV I whole heartedly agree with tonynibbles.

Really appreciated by all. It would be great to see a PlayTV developers blog - the video released was great but a blog dedicated to news would be better. Wouldn't have to be fancy :) I wouldn't mind seeing picture-in-picture for channel browsing. Also, the ability to keep exported videos accessible in the library view - with a little icon to indicate that they have been exported and are outside the PlayTV software. Small annoyance: When paused or watching a recording, the pop up info box (at the bottom of the screen) does NOT disappear automatically after a few seconds (like it does with LiveTV). This has sometimes led to me hitting circle to close it, and accidentally then switching back to live tv and losing my buffer... :( If the info box for live *and* recording both had the same interactions / timeout for disappearing that would be a minor frustration removed for me. I think it's fair to say many UK customers are looking forward to news of an HD upgrade when the tech is ready... Great work though! Thanks. Good work - A nice update. Really appreciated by all.

The official PlayTV site is lacking even basic information on such matters. It is impossible to tell if it supports SD/HD AVC yet for example.
