It’s been touted by many as one of the PS3’s most exciting downloadable titles, the reasons for which are most probably because of its purity of gameplay, and the fact that it plays a pretty tune on those nostalgic heart strings, taking us back to the good old days when it was all about fun.
Release attached below.
Key features:
Calling all Cars! We have a jailbreak situation…
o Crazy crime-fighting PS3 title is exclusive to PLAYSTATION Network
o Grab crooks; drive them to jail. Sounds easy? This action-driving game isn’t
o All-against-all four-player mayhem – both online and split-screen
This May, PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3) swings into action with a crime-fighting caper from the maker of God of War™. Maverick developer David Jaffe brings us his latest god-like offering, Calling All Cars!™ – the fiendishly fast-paced exploits of an army of runaway criminals and the cops whose job it is to chase them down and haul them back to the slammer. With its innovative take on a much-loved concept, high-definition cartoon-style graphics and accessible gameplay, Calling All Cars! is a true PS3 original – and it’s only available by download via PLAYSTATION®Network (PSN): the interactive, evolving space which opens the door to a new world of exciting entertainment opportunities.
You’re a police officer, tasked with chasing down criminals over four interactive bird’s-eye-view levels and delivering them back to jail where they belong. However, three other cops are also on the tail of the crooks and they won’t hesitate to snatch your captives from you using a variety of weapons: missiles, wooden mallets and magnets that can be picked up on the roadside and deployed against you. Catching your criminal is just the beginning; the tricky part is holding onto him until you get to the police station. Of course, you get to play the other cops at their own game and snatch their fugitives as well.
Gameplay is simple; you drive in whichever direction you press the left analogue control. Hit the R1 button to use a weapon; hit R2 to deploy nitrous oxide for a burst of speed. That’s all you need to know – the rest is in the tactics. Do you go straight for the crook or do you wait to snatch him from another police car? Do you put your faith in your weapons, or your evasion skills?
With multiplayer modes – both free online multiplayer1 and split-screen - for up to four players, you’ll have plenty of fun working it out.
• Available exclusively as a download from the PlayStation Store on PSN
• Birds-eye view action driving-title
• Pick up and play – gameplay is simple to learn… but difficult to master.
• High-definition graphics
• Multiplayer for 1-4 players
• Extra network features
Downloading Calling All Cars! is simple - just follow these steps:
1) Connect your PS3 to Broadband and register on PSN
2) Go to the PLAYSTATION®Store and add Calling All Cars! to your cart
3) Proceed to the checkout. You will need to have funds in your PLAYSTATION Store wallet to complete your purchase.
4) Download your game and enjoy!

I’m confused. Why is there a press release telling us how to download it? I thought it was delayed and wasn’t going to be released today.

Looks awesome, can’t wait for this release.

I’m almost not going to buy this because David Jaffe is a whining little tool. He needs to grow up, I seriously don’t know who would employ him. God of War wasn’t great because of him, it was his excellent team.

when will it be released on the Pal PS store? with the delay in the us release, does it mean the Pal release would be delayed too?? NOOOOO!!!!!

This game just looks like so much fun. I can’t wait to get this thing. Should be an absolute riot online! Is a demo going to be available, or not? I think this could be a huge hit.

It’s so stupid that PAL users have such a restricted PS store. Don’t sony understand that we know whats available in the US as we DO have the internet.
I’m happy we have the PS store but come on Sony…. give us more content please.
Comment by Neil — May 4, 2007 @ 12:34 pm
Where is the content, come on Sony its time to deliver! The PSN has not been updated much since launch with only a handful of random videos. more more!

Calling All Cars will be available for download in the US on May 11th. The reason PAL takes much longer is it has to be translated into however many languages the developers agrees to do. It sounds simple but when a five letter word gets translated into a ten letter word you run into some spacing problems. Is it worth the wait? I guess we will see.

Its such a good game, I wont mind waiting for it however, its worth the wait anyhow.
Comment by Wormhole — May 9, 2007 @ 10:02 pm
They should just release it in English. The translations in my language almost always suck.
They can always release additional languages later.
By the way, Sony, can we get an official release date for CAC in Europe?
