There are rumours abound that Sony have registered a new logo. The purpose of the logo is unknown, but
it has been spotted on a European website in an advert for the PSN. Click here to see it.

Hmmmmmm, not bad.
Hope the network gets a makeover to match this swanky little number.
Comment by Ton Capone — Oct 23, 2007 @ 3:39 pm
This logo was first spotted several weeks ago in Japan I believe. I’ve definitely seen it before, and not recently!

“Hope the network gets a makeover to match this swanky little number.”
Hope the network gets some games in the EU before this swanky little number
Front end upgrades while nice mean bugger all if we’re not getting the content that other regions are already enjoying!
So stuff the new logo, give us the content!

ugh its too warm in stafford -__-
on topic - this logo appears to be the beginning of an effort to combat xbox live with a new jazzy domain style….
Comment by JohnSketch — Oct 23, 2007 @ 4:01 pm
I’ve also seen this logo used in an advert for the PlayStation Network in the latest issue of the Dutch Official PlayStation Magazine.
Comment by NavahoGL — Oct 23, 2007 @ 4:04 pm
i think that looks reli nice
Comment by daniel hatcher — Oct 23, 2007 @ 4:12 pm
Looks a hell of a lot better than the Black and White version that floated around the internet about a month back…
Comment by Tony Nibbles — Oct 23, 2007 @ 4:20 pm
Stop wasting time making logos and start translating god dam content, or get that statment from Sony on why the store sucks.
or let me buy stuff off the US store with a VISA credit card!!!!
Comment by Carl Crawford — Oct 23, 2007 @ 4:36 pm
It’s hardly newsworthy is it?
Comment by Pete Cullen — Oct 23, 2007 @ 4:44 pm
This logo looks to be done in a different style compared to the futuristic spiderman-fonted playstation 3 writing. I do like the way that the letters fold around the sphere - this gives it meaning, presumably the sphere is the world, with playstation all over it. However, in folding the letters they’ve shaped them into characters from a child-like font - comic sans springs to mind!
Maybe the new logo will be animated - that might make it look cooler!
Looking at the advert in that magazine I noticed the red flowing ice stream that I recognise from the Playstation Eye trailers. These graphics are beautiful when animated. It’s a pity that the PSN logo can’t be more like this.
On another topic. There are some important updates coming to Warhawk in their 1.2 patch. I would be interested to read more about that…
Comment by reakt — Oct 23, 2007 @ 5:12 pm
Nice logo, hopefully this will be the start of the PSN getting better.
P.S. ThreeSpeech, why are both the ThreeSpeech Warhawk Servers down?
Comment by stephen92 — Oct 23, 2007 @ 5:26 pm
i think its a great logo…for one,it encapsulates a world…two,it features the ‘iconic’ playstation buttons…and three, everything seems to point to the middle.i.e you! (hereby making it relevent to any gamers/users) very clever!
Comment by seedaripper1973 — Oct 23, 2007 @ 7:49 pm
i read an article about this on a swedish PS3-site for a week ago.
I don’t really like the logo, the blue shopping bag is better.
Comment by Mjolkchoklad — Oct 23, 2007 @ 9:03 pm
The logo looks a bit rubbish, to be honest I didnt even know the network had a logo I thought it was that shopping bag that appears on the menu?
Comment by Terry — Oct 23, 2007 @ 9:18 pm
Yeah, this is the Official Playstation Magazine over here in the Netherlands, i own a copy so i can definitly say it’s true… i saw the logo in black and white a week and a half ago on http://www.myspace.com/playstationthree
I hope i can ‘advertise’ this site

can you confirm that the Japanese PSN free demo for GRAN TURISMO 5 PROLOGUE will NOT be relased in Europe please ?
Comment by Semi-unofficial Account — Oct 23, 2007 @ 10:02 pm
I hope to god that 5 is right and that with the new “jazzy” domain style, comes a total rethink about the page content and layouts and the length of time it takes to do something simple like click onto the 2nd or 3rd pages, or even go back a step. The load times, considering what is on the PSN pages - 1 banner, 1 list of “top downloads” 8 or 10 thumbnails and a “most recent” list, the speed is ridiculously slow.
Comment by PJ — Oct 23, 2007 @ 10:03 pm
hate new logos and branding. it’s a crock of itsh.
Comment by Lean_go — Oct 23, 2007 @ 11:45 pm
You can repaint the car but unless they sort out that shoddy engine under the bonnet whats the point..?
Comment by Terry — Oct 24, 2007 @ 8:48 am
Where is BLAST FACTOR ADVANCED RESEARCH????
does the logo offer us any clues ?????
Comment by leonsk — Oct 24, 2007 @ 10:44 am
Well, nice to see dutch websites here.
As i thought. This logo is the new network logo (PSN). Sony wants to give de PSN i identity and with this logo it should be a good start. It looks beter with gradients then without it.
Comment by Tenshu — Oct 27, 2007 @ 7:47 pm
Perhaps if Sony stopped wasting their money on new logos, they could charge UK/European fans less for the DelayStation3, the games, PSN contents and peripherals.
Comment by Zed Zee — Oct 29, 2007 @ 12:18 am
This is deffo the new PSN logo. Just spotted it on one of the new TV ads for the new 40GB model. Looks quite smart.
Must agree with comments on here though. You’ve got the new logo. Now lets get back to producing proper content.
