According to various sources across the internet, to counter the loss of Monster Hunter 3 on PS3, Capcom are gearing up to make an announcement sometime this week, with some positive news for PlayStation fans on the cards. It all started on the Capcom forums – with a bunch of angry posters complaining about the Monster Hunter 3 cancellation. This was when Christian Svensson, Senior Director of Strategic Planning and Development replied with the following…
“Let’s see how they feel at the end of next week about us.”
Will it be a new exclusive (some people point to a newly trademarked name, “Dead Void”), could it be a currently multiplatform Capcom game going exclusive (Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4) to PS3, or perhaps it’s something else altogether?!

i wouldnt read into this too much - we’ve seen these so called posts about major announcements and they turn out to be nothing.
Unless its something about Resi 5 its nothing to get excited about

They might be announcing along with other companies such as Valve that Delays will remain a PS3 exclusive.
Comment by zetsurin — Oct 15, 2007 @ 1:27 pm
I doubt it’s anything big.
I’ve never really been a fan of Capcom’s games, though, so that may be why.

I’d be interested to know what the threespeech guys and gals are hoping for!?! Stoke that rumour fire!
Personally love most Capcom games/franchises so this has piqued my interest.
Comment by mrsatansdojo — Oct 15, 2007 @ 1:53 pm
Please dear god NOT a Mega man game or Lost Planet!!!!
I hope Devil May Cry 4 PS3 exclusive, Okami 2, or Breath of Fire 6.

“Let’s feel how they feel next week…” …when we announce we’ll be discontinuing all PlayStation projects permanently?
Be careful folks, it could just as easily mean that.
Comment by Adam J — Oct 15, 2007 @ 2:27 pm
I quite liked the atmosphere in Alien Vs Predator. If they can recreate that same atmosphere in 7.1 surround with 1080p at a decent framerate, I think it could be very interesting.

Comment by Carl Crawford — Oct 15, 2007 @ 4:01 pm
Hmm well Resident Evil 5 and Devil May Cry 4 are too far gone now to become exclusives, it would have been nice mind. Bring them out THIS YEAR, now that’d be even nicer.
@11 - love the PS4 joke, but your probably not far off…
Comment by Terry — Oct 15, 2007 @ 4:09 pm
I’m starting to believe that the PS3 is SO FUTURISTIC that it hasn’t even been invented yet! The games haven’t even been though of yet, and that’s why we are seeing so many delays!!!
Comment by haha — Oct 15, 2007 @ 4:26 pm
Its Mega Man. The only thing that could possibly be bigger than RE5 if done right.

[wanders off topic due to bordom and doubts the announcement will be anything remotely interesting]
am i the only one who wonders what ever happened to virtual reality?
i mean it was going to be the big thing once. then poof! it all vanished from reality. where did it go? why did it go? todays consoles could shit VR and with the wi-fi sensing/mini lcd screens headsets would be cheap as chips to make.
oh well……. guess i’ll never know. warhawk anyone?

http://www.capcom-unity.com/ have been running a count down with the words “Prepare Yourself” over a picture of a planet.
Maybe it’s connected to why PS3 owners will love (or hate) Capcom after this week…

@19
Guess we will have to see what happenes when that timer reaches zero eh!
Comment by Terry — Oct 16, 2007 @ 12:21 am
Isnt it the Bionic Commando game that they are making?
Comment by Mike — Oct 16, 2007 @ 7:25 am
I’m hoping the Dark Void title that’s being mentioned is going to be the big news; if its going to make PS3 owners happy, then I doubt they’d be talking about the remake of Bionic Commando thats coming out as that’s going to the 360 & PC too.
Comment by Matthew — Oct 16, 2007 @ 9:19 am
Ok, so it’s not the Bionic Commando remake (this was announced by Gamespot, which is referenced in the below link)-

Hmmm, interesting. I guess we’ll wait in wonder….
Comment by Emily — Oct 16, 2007 @ 11:05 am
Since the topic is MH related, my guess would be Monster Hunter Online going to the PS3.
Comment by mdshaman — Oct 16, 2007 @ 11:19 am
oops.. that should be Monster Hunter Frontier..
Comment by mdshaman — Oct 16, 2007 @ 11:27 am
@ “zetsurin”
I agree with you. Delays remain exclusive to the DelayStation brand from Sony.
Comment by Zed Zee — Oct 16, 2007 @ 2:07 pm
Bionic Commando seems to be at least one of the big announcements? Anyone here played it?
Comment by Savage — Oct 16, 2007 @ 2:46 pm

Hello all, this is my first post to Threespeech…so be gentle!
Over the past few months I have watched with interest the delays regarding PS3 games, from which I can only draw one conclusion.
First however, let me give you a little information on my background as it has a bearing on the opinion I’ve formed. For a fair number of years I worked at a company that developed remote comms software for hand-held devices [PDA’s, barcode scanners etc., and at that time we were among the top three players in the world.
Now, without boring you with details, you ideally strive to write the best software for the best platform[s] out there. The reality however is somewhat different. What often happens, not surprisingly, is you end up developing on the platform with the best manufacturer support. This support can take many forms, software development tools, training, free hardware etc. However, as we all know, the best kind of “development tools†are the ones you can bank.
As a PS3 [as well as 360] owner I have become increasingly alarmed at these game delays, or more accurately, the actual length of these delays. If it were months instead of the usual few weeks, I would be more inclined to believe the delays were simply developmental issues on what is, after all, a new platform, but it simply doesn’t ring true. To hold up a game for three of four weeks [coincidently, just long enough for consumer demand to wane] from a development perspective makes no sense, hell, it used to take us that long to decide whose turn is was to make the coffee, never mind fix anything.
If I were Sony I would be extremely concerned in both the short and long term. To my knowledge no market, and ultimately consumer, has ever benefited from Microsoft’s entry in to it, as Apple, IBM, Netscape, Novell et al can testify. Microsoft do not compete. They Imitate, Assimilate and Eradicate, they certainly do not Tolerate.
Some people reading this may think I’m some kind of Sony fanboy but they would be wrong. I have no allegiance to them or any other company, why should I? Indeed, if Sony had Microsoft’s effectively limitless coffers, I’m sure they would behave in a remarkably similar fashion. But they haven’t. The reality is they face the most ruthless company in the world, who do not lose.
Ultimately it is not just Sony who will lose, but every gamer.
I read the other day a Microsoft spokesman saying there was “enough room for everyone†in the console market.
I’m sure Julius Caesar heard something similar from Brutus just before he hit the deck….
