An update to MotorStorm has been released, adding a few extra features to keep the game going. Firstly, you can now view the vehicle selection screen in 2D rather than the original 3D view, which should speed up the selection times. There’s also a proximity meter in MotorStorm mode, and a couple of new soundtracks – ‘Devils Crossing’ by Elite Force and ‘Beat the Devil’ by Jiffster. On the online multiplayer side of things, you now can mirror the tracks which should provide some extra variation.

The 2D selector would be far sweeter if you could use it in the offline game too.

..And i’m still missing the 2-player feature.
Even though the view when racing might suck when 2 ppl are playing at the same machine, it would still be nice.
Comment by rBerggren — Dec 13, 2007 @ 3:27 pm
Is it free?
Comment by Ton Capone — Dec 13, 2007 @ 3:45 pm
I tried downloading the update but it never works weather this has something to do with the fact that the last one i got was the one that allowed you to use time attack i don’t know but for some reason it seems to refuse to work

MIRROR != Reverse
The mirror mode isnt the same as reverse tracks unfortunately, some of the tracks would be impossible in reverse anyway…
Really why isnt the 2D car selection available as single player?
Although, a great update and highly appreciated to see that Sony are still supporting this game, lets hope it continues
And yes it is free.

@5 - Mirror != reverse
Totally agree with you on that one. You beat me to it though. TS you should remove the mention of reverse from your description as it will confuse people.
I remember seeing a video around the time of the Revenge Weekend update where one of the makers (Jed Ashworth I believe) said they couldn’t do reverse tracks.

Is there split screen multiplayer? I won’t care otherwise.

Threespeech!
There are a lot of excited but disappointed PS3 players out there who got SingStar.
Since the game launched almost a week ago, there has been a severly limited online service with servers unaccessible everyday.
Its disappointing that there has been no news about this problem to reassure customers that there is a problem and that they are working on it…
Can you find out what is going on?
Comment by Tony Nibbles — Dec 13, 2007 @ 6:06 pm
@ 7 - no split screen.
the mirror mode is fun, confusing for the first couple of races but i soon got the hang of it, liking the mix of vehicles turning up these days online, people showing off their new rides and trophy vehicles. sweet.
what pack is that chopper bike in? wouldn’t mind that. love racing my rusty hotrod rally car around
has the store been updated yet?

on an off topic theme look at the PSN update today under assassins creed…they have spelt the CELLO trailer the CHELLO trailer!!!!!! LOL and why is piyotama £3.50 when it only costs the equivalent of £1.50 on the US store ???????
Comment by snowdog — Dec 13, 2007 @ 7:33 pm
Grrrr!! I was really looking forward to this patch! But now it turns out to be useless!
Please make the 2D selector available for single player also. The load times are ridiculous! Is it really necessary to remove all the models from memory every time?
And please make a split screen, non-networking mode so the game can be enjoyed with a friend in the sofa. Preferably leaving it up to the user whether the split should be made horizontally or vertically. And perhaps the option of moving the camera a little bit further behind the vehicle, to compensate for the cropped view?
Comment by Zta — Dec 13, 2007 @ 7:57 pm
@12 How on earth is this free update useless?! Unbelievable.

Comment by Martin — Dec 13, 2007 @ 11:12 pm
No doubt about it, Motorstorm needs split screen. Now I know this is really asking too much, but why not include online split screen so my brother and I can play online together against our buddies?
Comment by widowmaker — Dec 14, 2007 @ 2:54 am
@13 Just because it’s free doesn’t necessarily make it useful. I don’t play online, therefore the 2D selector is useless to me.
Comment by Zta — Dec 14, 2007 @ 9:58 am
I doubt MS will ever get split screen… people should get over it. Fingers crossed that MS2 will get it tho
