I enjoyed the demo and want the game, but as I’ve said before, I won’t be purchasing until I hear that the online is more stable than it was in the demo.

I will get on launch, largely due to the good name Critereon have built burnout into. I am dubious about the ‘free roaming world’ becasue they often don’t work (Need for speed is a good example).
I just hope it’s as much pick up and play fun as the last game
Comment by TheShirts — Jan 21, 2008 @ 1:30 pm
Oh, and before anyone asks, yes I do have broadband, my router is configured correctly, and every other game works fine… but I still kept getting disconnected from Freeburns, and the demo kept crashing when online.
Comment by Paranoimia — Jan 21, 2008 @ 1:33 pm
Hmm, the two US magazines award it 100? So its a perfect game then? Im unsure about it, I dont care about the online modes, but I’ll probably get this, cos the crashes were kewl..

The best demo ever… A studio with an impeccable track record of FUN racing games… Endless online game modes… Hideous moron bleating endlessly over the in-game radio…
As far as purchases go, this one’s a no-brainer.

find Burnout games boring after a while, the over the top dj is a pain in the ass!! they ruined Dirt by doing this…seriously shut up already.
Comment by Paul — Jan 21, 2008 @ 3:13 pm
I agree, the demo was great. If I could only get into the game faster… but hopefully the full game will do just that
And I’m excited about the free roaming world. My only complaint is the lack of split screen. COME ON!
Comment by senocular — Jan 21, 2008 @ 3:16 pm
I’m sure you can kill the DJ (in volume terms only, sadly). He is almost as annoying as that tosser in NFS ProStreet (seriously, how many times do you need to say Ryan Cooper?!)
Comment by TheShirts — Jan 21, 2008 @ 3:51 pm
What they should do is have the DJ as a character inside the free roaming city. IF you can track him down and run him over, then you don’t hear him on the radio. That would be a nice unlockable.
Comment by Savage — Jan 21, 2008 @ 4:42 pm
Are you sure these are real?
I thought the game was good, but not THAT good. 100? 90? So its on par with San Andreas and GoW?

Burnout = Pure Win
Comment by Pete — Jan 21, 2008 @ 4:53 pm
@12,
Shame there isnt no GTA style assasination missions where you could take him to “Bitchin Dogfood” aka GTA3. Wasn’t he the very same annoying bloke in SSX3, if any of you can remember that far back?
Comment by Terry — Jan 21, 2008 @ 4:54 pm
Yeh, I recognise his voice from SSX3. Conquer the mountain!
Comment by reakt — Jan 21, 2008 @ 6:03 pm
not really, it’s me Mobiletone. but after playing NFS:PS for soo long i am no longer sure
BUT.. NFS goes from free roaming to track racing and BO goes from track to free roam? just what the heck is going on with gaming?
@ Paranoimia - yeah same problems here, online was a fragging awful experience, no game has locked up my console more than that demo did. offline, it worked, online = FAIL! not going near this until i hear that online actually works. or i’ll just say sod it and keep on playing BO:Revenge.
highly suspicious of those ratings. seeing as two of them are official Sony ones.
Comment by RYAN COOPER — Jan 21, 2008 @ 8:52 pm
lol @ the ratings. How on earth is this 100? what GT5 then? 50000?
Its a ok game, I suppose if your into a arcadey racing game then its fun but after playing the demo personally for me its no more than a 6/10. Each to their own though
Comment by anon — Jan 21, 2008 @ 10:27 pm
What the hell is wrong with GamePro?
Gave it 100% but listed 3 things wrong with it in the summary of the game.
Comment by Michael Gladman — Jan 22, 2008 @ 7:27 am
Not sure Burnout has ever pleased ’serious’ racer fans. But then, as a fan of violence of any kind, that’s what I’ve never really understood about, say, the GT games: for all their realism, you bash into a wall and what happens? You STOP. No flips or smashes or debris or hub caps spinning through the air… no FUN.
Comment by rooee — Jan 22, 2008 @ 8:13 am
i’m guessing that above “100″ scores are actually “10″ scores that have been rounded up to fall in line with those who give percentages.
So those 100’s actually mean 95% or more.
sweet.
i am tempted.

erm ok this game is freakin awesome and stuff but some things have been forgotten that most probably would have made the game even better like ‘traffic checking’ god its annoying when your trying to shut down a car but he weaves through traffic whilst your are just getting bombarded with it and the fact that you CAN NOT GET aftertouch takedowns WTF is wrong with that its gay when your just about to win a road rage and you crash but just before you do you take down a car that doesnt COUNT!!!!!!!!!!! god it has its flaws but all round a worth while game
