Big, big news this. MCV are reporting that Grand Theft Auto IV will get a global release on April 29.
“We are so excited to be releasing Grand Theft Auto IV,” Rockstar founder Sam Houser told them. “We’ve pushed ourselves very hard to make something incredible and hope the game sets a new benchmark for interactive entertainment.”
After all the hype, and the long wait…
…I hope it’s as good as they say it is!

I can hear the Daily Mail gearing themselves up already. Looking forward to it.
The game that is, not all the surrounding controversy.

Was never a GTA fan, sorta like the vice city one, but that was more about the 80’s soundtrack than the game

I will believe it when it is physically in my hand on that date, otherwise pay no heed.

Can anyone from TS get their hands on the PS3 version? Last I heard only the Xbox 360 version was being tarted about and shown to press.
I do hope they’ve done a good job on the PS3 version.

Amazing!
Interesting also to hear that its the PS3’s fault that the release date was held up for so long.
Even more interesting is the fact that Microsoft didn’t pay them even more cash to release it before xmas?

@9
I agree, I hope that is indicitive of the game being developed more carefully for the PS3
I am very tempted to book a couple of days off work for this (sad I know) but equally, I just know in my heart that this will slip at least once more
Comment by TheShirts — Jan 24, 2008 @ 4:46 pm
The problem is that the latest preview is the 360 build we havent seen the game running on a PS3 at all….very worried

I bet good money that the X360 code has been ready and gathering dust since last year, and it’s the PS3 version that has delayed things, like most other multi-platform projects.
This link tells you what they’ve spent the extra time on doing, with nice touches like being able to use a mobile phone and go for a drink after work.

What a surprise, another article on ThreeSpeech, followed by another anti-PS3 comment by our resisdent troll Zed Zee!!!
Besides, for once this delay was actually good news for Sony! Reason being is that the exclusive DLC MS paid through the nose for won’t be out until November 2008 (the 2nd one in some unspecified date in 2009).
So whereas their $50M should have got them a major spring/summer release which is generally a quiet period in the gaming world, it’s actually bought them a footnote in what will be a crowded holiday period full of the big 2008 releases. It also leaves MS with no significantly hyped exclusive to counter the PS3 summer releases like MGS4, Kill Zone 2, Home, LittleBigPlanet etc.
P.S. Zed Zee, if you think the PS3 was entirely to blame for the delay, how do you explain the reason why the MS exclusive content has suffered the same delay? Why didn’t they get to work on them as normal if the finished 360 code was sitting on a shelf “gathering dust”?

Yay! Little Big Planet theme is back up!
Comment by Justin Bailey — Jan 24, 2008 @ 10:42 pm
@ Apnomis.
A “troll”…I’m flattered. Thank you.
Considering the X360 exclusive content was going to be released ’sometime later’ after the game was out anyway, I’d say it’ll be right on time.
Oh, and let’s not forget that it’s exclusive…That’s E-X-C-L-U-S-I-V-E.
Over & Out.

Dats me birthday. I wonder what i am gonna ask for?
Comment by Lean_go — Jan 24, 2008 @ 11:05 pm
Eugh how depressing, you can’t get away from arguments anywhere can you?
Why do 360 fans trawl PS3 sites? Why do PS3 fans trawl 360 sites?
Can’t we all just be happy that we’re both getting this amazing game? AND on the same day?
Leave your weird arguments for the playground, no one cares but the two of you.
Comment by Arthur the Magnificiant Squirrel — Jan 25, 2008 @ 8:47 am
@ 18 this is not a playground arguement, and I’ve only got one thing to say on the matter…
“He started it!!!”
I know, I know, you’re not supposed to feed the trolls, but I can’t help it in ZedZee’s case!

@ Apnomis:
When I put “Over & Out” in my posts, it means I’ve moved on.
But on this occasion, I felt I could break that rule, just for you.
Read it and weep, one and all:

Who’s the “troll” now?
Over & Out…no really.

“When I put “Over & Out†in my posts, it means I’ve moved on.”
Oh god is this for real? Really? Everyone knows you’ll be back here every day hoping someone here replies to your drivel!
“Who’s the “troll†now?”
Look it up, you still are!
Just get over it, you like one console. Let other people get on with their lives enjoying what they enjoy.

@ Arthur the Magnificiant Squirrel:
Very well, one more time. I break the rule just to explain to you moron what I meant and to correct your spelling, because you can’t even seem to spell magnificent correctly!
Or did you mean: Arthur the Run Over By A Car Squirrel?
Anyway, what I MEANT about putting ‘Over & Out’ in my posts is that I won’t be responding to THAT particular blog news item any more and would move on to another one - NOT never visit this site again, you half-brained, squashed road-kill !
Over & Out…REALLY.
