Attention SingStar fans! We’re currently working on the next UK SingStar title for PS2, and we want
you to decide what’s going to be on it. There are four possible themes to choose from, so which one gets your vote?
1. Boybands Vs Girlbands
2. Diva’s
3. Cheesy Tunes
4. 80’s Vs 90’s
You can cast your vote within the discussion threads at either myspace or facebook.
Or visit SingStar.com to vote in the poll. The chosen title will be released towards the end of this year, so there are only a couple of weeks to make your vote count.
But that’s not the end! After the overall game theme has been selected, Sony then need your help to decide upon a definitive tracklist. So keep your eyes peeled and make sure you have your say!

Excellent. Good to have Singstar fan feedback happening on Threespeech over the last couple of weeks, there are questions over the song choices for the latest PS3 Singstar update - we understand the legal issues but why are the new PS2 titles and PS3 updates actioned hand in hand? Surely all new PS2 tracks could go in the sing store with a bit of logistics?

I might have to pick up Singstar for the PS3 soon. My wife loves those games.

I might have to pick up Singstar for *my* PS3 soon. My *wife* loves those games. *coughcough*

I really really don’t wanna hear about the great new tracks in the PS2 games unless the Singtore is also going to get them.
Can you confirm/deny this ThreeSpeech?

Yeah, the fan feedback thing is nice, but PS2 is kinda outdated. I’d rather be asked for feedback where the PS3 version could be improved. For that, i have tons of ideas starting with some actual online gameplay.
Nevertheless, i’d vote for Cheesy Tunes, but having a PS3, i would not buy a PS2 game any more.

@4 I completely 2nd that. I want Peter Andre!

@6 You can have Peter Andre. I want Kylie! However, for PS3 Singstar, I’d really like to see a few Meatloaf hits.
Comment by MuggleMind — Mar 27, 2008 @ 12:01 pm
@4 agreed… don’t rub it in the faces of PS3 owners by bringing out superior PS2 tracks.
What a mess

I’m surprised they’re still making these games for the PS2! Is the PS3 version any good? I’d considered getting it as I reckon it’ll be a laugh after a few bevvies!
If they churn out another for the PS3 then I reckon 80s is a must! The likes of Soft Cell / Frankie GTH / Duran Duran / The Cure or even better 80s/90s rock/goth/indie!! Now I would definately buy that! I know the missus would love that one too!

I would rather more “Good” songs for the current-gen(PS3) version of the game. I can’t help feeling extremely disappointed with singstar ps3!

Stop the ps2 thing and put all of it on singstore

They need to have a j-pop volume. I mean, there’s a Bollywood and Dutch one (if I’m not mistaken). Yeah, Japan isn’t “part of Europe” and all that jazz, but it’s something that, if done right, your audience could want.

If you have singstar on the PS2, keep it. Don’t bother getting the PS3 version (same microphones bundled with it, and basically the same song list bar a few *cough* new ones — not enough to warrant the price tag)
PS3 singstar — biggest letdown by far since I got the PS3 on launch day!

how about coating each singstar disc with the ebola virus?
just a thought

I say we vote for the makers of Singstar to never be allowed to make a PS3 game again.
Singstar has to be the biggest PS3 disappointment so far and that’s saying something.
This has been a diabolical farce fropm day one.
Just keep making it for the PS2 as you won’t see another penny from me you half-witted morons.

SCEE aren’t stuped enough to get songs cleared for physical disk and not singstore now that the store is here.
Whatever the selected title is, i’m looking forward to another big store update.
I’ll take this time to thank SCEE for their massive turn around in Singstore support, it now contains a lot of great songs (and some crappy ones), and at the current rate it’s getting 30 + new songs a month, which IMO is great support.

I diswagree with all those who have knocked SingStar PS3. I’ve shipped my PS3 to arious house parties and gatherings; I now have 85 songs in total (although I SO with I could remove some from the playlist, e.g. Ne Yo, Scissor Sisters, Orson), and whenever it goes on it stays on until 5 or 6 in the morning, with people STILL trying to play it. The PSEye functionality is superb; the high-score based gameplay is brilliant, and it has made every single person who has played it so far say “I WANT ONE!”. That, to me, is the sign of a success.
BUT… I have been MASSIVELY disappointed with the SingStore updates… there are so many songs from PS2 SingStar that I want, but I flatly refuse to downgrade and pay £20 per disc when there are generally only 1 or 2 songs per disc I’m after. The PS3 SingStar should be the prioroty now; and that includes getting on some classic 80s/90s indie/rock classics on there, PLEASE! Less cheese and more meat is needed. I SO want some Nirvana, Pulp, The Smiths, Kings of Leon… every time there is an update I wait and anticipate, but I’ve always just gone “meh” so far, got a couple of tunes but there is a serious lack of what people seem to actually want.
Less PS2 SingStar; more PS3 SingStore. The public demands it; the PS3 community is crying out for it!
But definitely, DEFINITELY I would love to see in PS3 SingStar an option to “remove songs” (i.e. some of the terrible crap that came on the disc) and on the flipside, “show all songs” (for when someone with no taste but is probably quite fit wants to join in)… I am sick of all my friends going “Ne Yo? What the HELL is a Ne Yo?” and soforth, as if I have bloody awful taste in music.
It’s a fantastic game though and anyone who says otherwise is not making the most of it (i.e. probably does not realise that it is a thousand times more entertaining when you use PSEye or even the old EyeToy cam, which does work for the PS3 game for those who may not be aware)…

Apologies for the typos; my hand is in a bandage after I snapped open an old fracture and thus my typing is off. Doesn’t excuse my failure to spellcheck though. Anyway… again, I say SingStar PS3 rules. It’s a lady magnet, folks. A lady-magnet.

I just wish they would make a player of some sort..so you can play the videos from xmb.. I mean I paid for the songs..so maybe I would just like to hear them and have them running in the background without singing..that would be nice.. so please make a specific Singstar player that can show and play the videos directly from the xmb.
Comment by LittleB69 — Mar 28, 2008 @ 12:01 pm
I would also like to state that the PS3 version is by far the best version and we never play any of the PS2 ones anymore and it will get even better comming months as local songs (my case danish) are arriving soon.. I know everyone is allowed to an opinion but as you can see I really don’t agree with some of the comments above…
