GTA 4 - Fingers At The Ready.

It’s only 11 days now until GTA4 hits UK stores, so the wait is almost over. With GTA 4 being one of the biggest releases of 2008, the game is in high demand and there are rumours floating around that many UK stores are already sold out of initial stocks and many online retailers cannot guarantee delivery for the release date. Have you ordered your copy yet, or are you going to take the risk of trying to pick up a copy on the day?

I got my special edition on pre order, get in! I want no xbox points or whatever they call em, screw ‘bonus’ content, that’s all just noise. PS3 forever yaaaaay!

I’m going to take the risk of trying to pick a copy up. Word of warning to the folks in London though. There is a 48 tube strike starting 10am on Monday so this could make multistore hunting quite an unpleasant chore if people sell out.

I didn’t bother pre-ordering, so I’m probably screwed. Then again, I pre-ordered GT5P months in advance and didn’t get that until four days after launch.

I’m taking the day off work anyway, so I’ll probably end up trawling all the shops and supermarkets looking for a copy instead of actually playing it.

Had a check on my pre-order the other day, noticed I placed the order on 3rd May 2007!!! Hopefully I will receive it on lauch day, almost a year since I ordered it.

We going to get any news on DLC yet? This seems to be a decider for those of us who are multi-platform. Since the 360 has now been assured “Vice City-comparable DLC” i’m pretty sure i’m going to be pissed if we only get some outfits for Home or something.

i assume that you are talking about the game!
if that is the case then your best bet will be 24hour super markets, get there for 12:00 sharp.
i was checking and game, gamestation, play.com, amazon and a bunch of others are either not taking orders or taking without a garenteed delivery day “first come first serve basis”
and i think that you cant preorder games from super markets so all the stock they get will be for floor sales.

No doubt GTA IV will be the PS3’s biggest game to date and for a long time to come.
But in my local game store the cabinets behind the counter have always been full of the AAA titles weeks after their initial release date.

If I’m being totally honest, after playing COD4, GTA IV’s look… A little underwhelming. Sorry.

Who knows, maybe I’ll be suprised…

I was making the point that those (bizarrely now missing) screens were taken from the advert which promotes the 360 version specifically, the irony this being a Playstation 3 forum.

I wasn’t making comparisons between the versions.

It does look awesome though, and as i side note i feel COD4s new multiplayer maps will suffer massively from their delay because of the set back.

Had mine on pre-order for over a month now…. however I’m getting it on 360 purely because none of my mates bar 2 has the PS3 so multiplayer would have been a little empty!

If my Xbox blows up though, I reckon I’ll get the PS3 version instead…. oh, and screw the DLC… like the 100+ hours won’t be enough to handle!

im not going to bother trying to pre order or trying to find a copy on release day im just going to wait for the scene to leak it, hopefully we will get it b4 rls date. i may purches the game after the hype has died down and it isnt an effort to buy it.

if it was a psn rls i would buy it instantly

If GTA IV is *THAT AMAZING* it’s worth waiting a few days to find out from the reviews. Preordering is for suckers. While I have strong expectations and high hopes that it will be a solid game, I see no point in preordering and rewarding a game which could be fatally bugged in a way that the hype and shill reviews do not mention. Wait for some genuine reviews and pick the game up at your leisure, assuming its worth it.

Sort of looking forward to this - all the pre-release hype has taken the edge off of it for me. I’ve avoided all the press about it so far though.

Anyone at TS know if Sony are going to sort out some TV ads of their own, or are they going to let the 360 have it all to itself? They really need to sort that out. The ads are all for the 360 so far, making no mention of the PlayStation 3. Surely Sony won’t let slip by, will they?

Let’s hope the console bundle turns out to be real.

Sony need to get off their arses and show how serious they are. The good momentum they had at the start of the year could so easily fall away.

the GTA Franchise is the only one that i can think of that has always dilivered!
plus i have seen so many reviews these day that are completely miss leading, like pro evo 08 IGN uk 9.2, assassins creed Gamespot 9 and so on.
imo i think that it is best the player reviews the game for themselves, unless it is a game that you are not too sure about.
i dont usually preorder any game, but GTA always!
besides, what other game can you think of where it sells out before its released?

Got my special edition on pre order from Amazon sice Feb……..but I looked on thier site the other day and they said my order would be delivered by the 7th May due to haveing the free postage!!!!!

So….iv forked out Â£6 for special delivery in order to get it on launch day!

Moral of the story - dont use Amazon for pre ordering computer games!

At least I have my day off work booked HAHA

I checked in a Blockbuster and Game store, both had sold out of their PS3 quota but had 360 versions to pre order. I ended up ordering in HMV, which had the normal version but not the special edition on ps3. I can go in 8AM on the Tuesday morning to pick it up.

i hqave got 3 copy’s on order i got the special edition for the ps3 and nomal for ps3 and 360 so if i don’t get a copy i am going to be right pissed i can not wait for this game and will be playing it like mad till grid comes out

I haven’t bothered to pre-order GTAIV,

I Plan on release date to steal mine from any 12 year olds I see with their mums leaving Game - I don’t consider it “stealing” per-se…more like doing a civil service by keeping mature adult rated games out of the hands of minors, and if by chance I get a free copy out of it - all the better!

@33, look the GTA series have always been solid but the simple fact is that GTA IV COULD SUCK. There I’ve said it. I say it as an owner of virtually every previous GTA title. It might be graphically impressive but plagued by all sorts of bugs or rendering glitches. Don’t believe me? Well think of the suckfest Assassins Creed was despite the hype.

I do not see any reason whatsoever to blindly preorder or buy GTA IV until knowing exactly what it is that we’re talking about. The simple fact is that GTA IV has received an absurd amount of hype but ZERO independent trustworthy reviews to justify it. Anyone preordering is doing so on blind faith.

Would it kill to wait a few days after release to discover if it is a must buy or not? Let other fools plonk their money down sight unseen for GTA IV. Let the chumps preorder because some shill “exclusive” review scores the game highly. Perhaps they’ll be lucky and they get a good game. But let them take the risk.

If GTA is that amazing, it will be amazing a week later. The game is not going to sell out. Wait for the reviews and see if it justifies the purchase. And if it doesn’t you can laugh at the morons suckered into the hype who bought a broken game. And if it does, well you can buy the game anyway. So where was the harm in waiting?

Don’t be suckered by hype. Studios hype games for a reason and it sure as hell isn’t always because the game is any good.

I preordered from Tesco, just for the simple fact that it was Â£33.97 on PS3. It’s gone up now though, to Â£39.97. Will they honour it? Was it a special early price? Who knows. Even if they charge the Â£40, it’s still a tenner less!

got mine pre-ordered from Amazon one day when it hit 34 quid!!! BONUS! yeah, wait and buy it from the local rip-off store for 49.99, i don’t think so.

played EVERY other GTA game and this is going to be no exception. you can keep your MGS.

Tesco will honour it. If you preordered early, you will get it at the cheaper price. It was a special offer they did.
I got the special edition for Â£59.51 (or around there, it was some silly price) and free postage. It’s now gone up to Â£65.

As long as you ordered it early, they will honour the price.

God bless tesco (who’d have thought of pre-ordering from them!!?) But since the 4th of april they have been emailing me saying “GTA 4 delayed a week, we will dispatch on release” lol

They keep saying it’s out early.

Well Amazon has stoppede taking orders for the regular copy, but the S.E. as I ordered are still in business, so apparantly there are still copies out there - I just hope that the post don’t take a lot of time in getting it to Denmark from GB
