GT4 so far is the best. mass of things to do, still havn’t completed it. years of fun with your mates.
Comment by E-ROLE — Apr 18, 2008 @ 2:03 pm
GT4 was for its generation a benchmark that hasn’t been touched by anything, if GT5 has all the same content as GT4 but with the great HD graphics then i am sold already, we all know that it wont be, it will be this generations benchmark and i cant wait….

The problem with GT5P is it’s too similar to previous versions, it’s just a different shovel.
Anyone else caught themselves swearing going round in circles adding 20K each time to but a motor? FALSELY EXTENDED.
That said, it is shiny. Coo, Coo…
Comment by MrJimmy — Apr 18, 2008 @ 2:10 pm
In terms of gameplay things haven’t moved on a great deal, however it’s worth mentioning that the first three games in the series had much better soundtracks… the finest being GT3.
Comment by Topov81 — Apr 18, 2008 @ 2:14 pm
the best yet to be honest!

A-Spec will always have a special place within my heart…..

Gran Turismo 2. It had Scratch ‘n’ Sniff Discs!
Comment by laughingmantom — Apr 18, 2008 @ 2:37 pm
I prefered the first few for the body-mod/racing kits, but GT3 has a special place, as the Seattle track taught me all about drifting.
Sad to say that GT5:Prologue is going to have a landslide, simply because it’s the game of now, and all of the kids that visit this site and are too young or new to the franchise only know GT5:Prologue. GT5:Prologue may have the looks but it doesn’t have all of the full-blown tuning, licences and vast array of cars like its predecessors.
Comment by The-Unknown — Apr 18, 2008 @ 2:47 pm
I’m another GT3 nut, spent the most time with that one by far.
Really enjoying GT5P at the moment, the in-car view and my trusty old GT Force wheel are slowly eating away at all my free time. That said, it feels weird not being able to upgrade or tune any of the basic cars (which was always my favourite part of the earlier games). I guess we wait until GT5 for that…
Comment by Dan — Apr 18, 2008 @ 2:55 pm
At some point I’d like to see a poll for your favourite car from the GT franchise, with ten to twenty or so listed. I fell in love with the Nismo 400R and the Skylines because of these games.
Comment by The-Unknown — Apr 18, 2008 @ 3:04 pm
GT5P for the nicer graphics, handling, (broken) online mode and the interior view,
Comment by Youlikeyams — Apr 18, 2008 @ 3:18 pm
Would be better with the DualShock 3.
Comment by DaveC — Apr 18, 2008 @ 3:34 pm
@laughingmantom - haha! I’d forgotten about them, what a mad idea!
Comment by lxd — Apr 18, 2008 @ 3:59 pm
@MrJimmy
yep, and now i want the F1 car it seems i will have go through that process another 100 times. (yawn)
but love the game, looks great sound is a little better than others in the series imo, just need to see the finished product GT5!
Comment by manley — Apr 18, 2008 @ 4:00 pm
scratch n sniff discs - now that was vfm, a two disc racing game that smells like a car interior - sweeet!

GT3: A spec was the best for me, my mates thought they were watching the tv
Comment by ThreeSpeechlover — Apr 18, 2008 @ 4:52 pm
It was the first PS2 game I played so Gran Turismo A-Spec will probably always be my favorite.
Comment by Oddball — Apr 18, 2008 @ 5:16 pm
@ John Sketch
Eh up fella, long time no see.
TOTALLY with you (yet again) on A-Spec, a special one for me too
Anyway, back to lurking….

This has given me an idea! Why not bring the entire series to the Playstation Store? I mean it is PD, and i know Sony have close contacts there, so it should not be a problem at all….better still they should dedicate and entire section of the Playstation Store to GT5 P, and future DLC! I am looking forward to the Autumn update, and it seems GT5 P will follow the lead of the PS3 in its firmware updates which is good to see! I just wish Home came out and that they could have integrated GT5P with it…imagine having your achievements proudly displayed for all to view….

Definately GT4, gave me hours of playing time and stilll one of my number one racing games on the Playstation 2, but every GT to me has a uniqueness about it lol

Heeeeeeeyyyyyyy!
It’s the Sketchmeister.
By the way GT2 was the bestestes one.
Comment by Ton Capone — Apr 19, 2008 @ 3:34 am
A-spec was the best, here’s hoping GT5 can take that crown.
Comment by Josh — Apr 19, 2008 @ 4:42 am
GT2 the best one?!?!?!
Rally mode, in a subaru Impreza with smokes and dust trailing you behind - watching it on replay with music playing and the nigh on photorealistic camera angles/sway was an experience within itself
Cannot deny the first true GT step into the uncanny valley!
Comment by JohnSketch — Apr 19, 2008 @ 7:28 am
GT3 A-Spec all the way, I spent 7 months 100%ing that bad boy.
GT2 was the worst though. Really, really quite awful.
Comment by BaseballFury — Apr 19, 2008 @ 11:05 am
@ DaveC - yeah, it IS better with a DS3 *hugs ceramic white joypad*
if you’re that bothered, import one!
GT4 was my favorite, hell, me and some mates had a GT send off party a couple of weeks back playing split screen daft races. like volvo estates around nurburgringinggniig etc. had to say goodbye to it properly.
loved all the tuning options within that game, and doing up old motors, agonising over what wheels looked good. the 8hr sessions doing enduro races. pure class.
and to the GT40 test car nazis online, try driving AROUND other racers
in the lower races it’s like demolition derby some nights.
Comment by mobiletone — Apr 19, 2008 @ 11:17 am
GT4 is still the best.
Nonetheless, GT1 or 2 would be nice as a download for PSP.
Comment by Andreas — Apr 19, 2008 @ 6:56 pm
I loved GT4. For some reason, the main menu, where you could move from your home to various countries and races, actually gave me the feeling of traveling. Each country had different racing events and dealers. The tuning options were virtually endless which was really amazing. It was exciting to earn cash to afford the next extension to your (currently) favourite car.
And, of course, GT4 had the Nürburgring track!
Someone I think GT5P’s main menu is too simple - even though I like how your car is displayed in the background. And the Quick Tune menu is far too simple. Generally GT5P seem more like your average arcade racing game, than the amazing simulator, it used to be. But it’s nice to be racing again. I’ve been in need of a decent racing game for the PS3, and I’m happy I finally got it. Oh yes, needless to say the graphics are nice, but scream for the need of AA.
Please add AA, and please don’t destroy people’s settings in updates.

Hi threespeech hope this message gets through.
one of my friends is making an online petition to ask ea to release patches to fix the orange box for ps3:

hope you spread the word, thx.
Comment by ThreeSpeechlover — Apr 19, 2008 @ 11:03 pm
If I were asked what poll to put up next, it’d be What was your favourite track? Mine would be Grand Valley, for road courses, and Grand Canyon for dirt.
Ooh, hold on, I forgot the german monster Nurburgring, oh damn. Okay, can I change my question to top three tracks, giving 1st 2nd and 3rd place. So difficult…
I hope the next update includes another track, and I hope it’s Grand Valley.
Comment by LordOfRuin — Apr 20, 2008 @ 1:30 pm
Probably Gran Turismo 3: A-Spec, my first game when I got my PS2. Fantastic.

I have enjoyed Gran Tusimo 5 Prologue the most because the license tests are not included, they were always so tedious.
Comment by knight_spg — Apr 20, 2008 @ 7:53 pm
Hmm favorite ? LfS … doh I mean GT 3 A-Spec, but I assume when GT5 is gold it will be my favorite Gran Turismo.
Comment by Daniel — Apr 20, 2008 @ 10:18 pm
@30: Perhaps the license tests have been replaced by the racing line =)
Comment by Zta — Apr 21, 2008 @ 6:54 am
I was very close to putting GT4 for the wealth of content and the amazing range of cars it had but then I remembered the train-track AI that made every race feel like a time trial.
Obviously I had to go for GT5P, still loving that online mode, haven’t had a boring race yet. And boy it’s shiny, that’s for true!
So here’s hoping GT5 will feature the best of both.
