The classic arcade shooter Time Crisis has always been a fun game but can this fourth iteration of the franchise stand the test of time?
Worthplaying rated the game an impressive 8.8/10 and IGN gave it an 8.0/10.
The game comes packaged with the very orange G-con 3 light gun, the very first peripheral of its kind on PS3. It features two analogue sticks and full Sixaxis functionality. It is one impressive controller and it is also fully compatible with modern TV’s unlike the older models.
The game features includes arcade mode with updated graphics, and an all new FPS mode that takes advantage of the GunCon 3 and its dual analogue stick set up.
In the shops today.

wonderwallweb gave it 8.2/10, not a bad game.

I got TC4 via import months ago (like every other game that never comes out in the EU for months after initial releases) and I must say if you liked the first few of these then this wont dissapoint.
However the FPS is a little weird using the joynubs on the gun… Its like DOOM!
stick to the usual `reload` version and all is well.
Saying that its now covered in dust in the corner!

PSM3 didn’t like this, saying these games have had there day. I kind of like the idea but get that it’s going to be a short lifespan. Why the hell orange - terrible choice of colour, you can’t tell me that will sell more units than black would.

I loved the Time Crisis series but i think i’ll give this a miss - it might be a case of rose tinted glasses i’m afraid.
From what i’ve read, it’s not the greatest game in the series

Orange was chosen so that it would not be mistaken for a real gun if taken into a shop.
Strange… but true!
You may have pointed out a couple of reviews where the title has scored well, but GameRankings.com show a different story.
Pity, as I’m sure we’ll love it as much as the previous titles… if I hadn’t spent so much time last night with the Metal Gear Online Premier Beta 1.01 download nonsense I would have played this already as I received my copy on Wednesday via a pre-order at GAME.co.uk.
PS. “Joynubs” - almost as silly a naming as “nipple mouse”.

Tempted. If only they’d release a PS3 remake/version of the old Point Blank games, then it’d be an automatic purchase.

Oh yes… I forgot to mention… if anybody finds a retailer anywhere in the world that has stocks of a standalone GunCon 3 (black, orange, sky-blue pink, whatever) that can import to the UK (without Sony throwing a wobbly & causing the retailer to shut-up shop for good), please let me know.
Trying to play a two-player offline game with one gun is a pointless exercise.
Why on earth you cannot buy “solus” gun controllers in the UK (yet) is as much a good question as why it took so long for the title to reach the UK given the release last year in the US & Japan.
The only way currently to support two-player shoot-fests (’joynubs’ anyone?) is to buy two copies of the (vastly over-priced) Game+GunCon3 bundle.

@10
Point Blank FTW!!! :D:D:D hehe
I had the origianl Time Crisis for my PSx and it was really good - everyone who played it loved it…but since playing all other itterations in the arcade I cant see my picking this game up - there hasnt been much evolution with the series, not that there is much more to do with this genre.

Three Speech. I see that you mention the two highest review scores. A quick search on metacritic.com shows that most reviewers have not given such favourable reviews. In fact a lot of sites that I read and trust the opinions of (Eurogamer, 1up, etc) have given it very low scores.

I have owned the US version since it’s launch last year.
Now, at the time before launch, I really enjoyed the posts on playstation.blog from the producer of the game.
To get to my point/question: On the back of the box of the American version, and on the official TC4 website, there’s DLC mentioned (the website says it might be ‘Multiplayer’). Any word or info on this, ThreeSpeech?
A few dudes on my friends list has this, and goin’ Tango and Cash on the terrorists collective arses sounds amazing!
Please, pester Namco!

gee, only 5 months too late! i think anyone that hasn’t imported it already would have given up on it… 5 months is _way_ too long to wait between markets, great job guys

are the guns wireless?
Comment by madeye88 — Apr 19, 2008 @ 12:58 pm
Sorry, not getting this one for the sole fact that the Gun only stupidly caters to right handers. Namco, if you’re going to make badly designed GunCons, at least make them so we can all use them.
I can’t even buy this game if I wanted to, the way I hold the gun is completely nuffed by the joynipple positioning. Shame, I kinda enjoyed this in the arcades, but HotD4 does everything games in this genre should do right *waits for HotD4 PS3 port* -_-

£64.99 is an insane price - I’m out.

You should have preordered early when Game.co.uk had it listed at £39.99!
Add to that a discount code and Quidco and I got this title for around £30 (before the reviews came out).
The only reason I didn’t cancel my preorder when people started slating it is that I got it for such a good price.
The graphics aren’t exactly great, but aren’t exactly crap either. The textures are basic but everything is very smooth and crisp, and besides I thought the Wii proved that games that you waggle a controller in front of are immune from criticism of the graphics? If this title had been a Wii release for their gun accessory it would have probably got rave reviews…
I hope that they use the PSN Store as an outlet for cheap and fun gun games, like they started doing with the PS Eye (though there hasn’t been any of them in a while). Also if it sells enough we’ll probably start seeing Wii ports of shooting games, like that decent looking Resident Evil game released on the Will not so long ago.
All in all if you liked the Time Crisis games, or you like the Wii style interaction of a gun peripheral, the only thing that should deter you from buying this is not the reviews but the price.
As far as I’m concerned a website that gives good reviews for games like “Link’s Cross-Bow Training” (or whatever the Wii equivalent is called) cannot be justified in giving this game 6/10 (or less) just because it’s on the PS3…
