More Ratchet and Clank coming! And so soon! Smashing.

“Including something a lot of you have been asking after”
Wipeout HD then ?
Oh quelle surprise, non.
Really, how much longer can threespeech have it as their main banner when it’s completely dropped off the release schedule. Not even shown during the PSN demo at E3. WHERE IS IT ?????
Comment by WhereTheHeckIsWipeoutHD — Jul 17, 2008 @ 3:20 pm
Kudos in regards to your geekiness Photek!
I’m pleased that Elefunk has not bowed to the trend of recent downloadables and has retained a modest price-tag of £4.99 - as opposed to games like Echocrome, which retailed at £6.99 and was absolutely woeful (yes, I bought it and yes, I regretted it immediately and am now deeply bitter!).
Comment by Aragorn1001 — Jul 17, 2008 @ 3:22 pm
great elefunk at last!
Comment by exprohound — Jul 17, 2008 @ 3:23 pm
@1, I too have recently moved and been without home internet for 2 weeks… It’s like having a limb removed!
Good job I work on a PC, can get my fix whilst being paid!!
Anyway, I’m looking forward to trying the Naruto demo, like the look of that. Oh and the ragdoll kung fu trailer as well.
Nice one, just need Wipeout HD now (thought I’d get a mention of it in before anyone else!)
Comment by Robothamster — Jul 17, 2008 @ 3:27 pm
+1 for naruto storm demo, loved it.
Comment by ThreeSpeechlover — Jul 17, 2008 @ 3:32 pm
Wipeout HD!!!
Oh no hang on….
Comment by Terry — Jul 17, 2008 @ 3:46 pm
Yay, Elefunk! £4.99 as well, brilliant.
“…99%…100% downloaded.
Installing…
Do not turn off the system.”
Back in a bit!
Comment by Zoob — Jul 17, 2008 @ 3:46 pm
@4
The thing that amuses me the most about the lack of Wipeout HD, is that Psygnosis (a British games production company, from Liverpool I think) originally created Wipeout, and then SCEE purchased Psygnosis and so the rights to Wipeout. SCEE own all right, including production, of Wipeout HD.
I think that it’s bad that they can’t answer simple questions regarding the release date of a game that they own the production rights for!

I bet it will be out in America first too, and cheaper….

For once a big thanks to ThreeSpeech (I know you’re Sony) for the PSN update. I’ve been watching Naruto since 2003 and its good to have the demo before the US store albeit a few hours.
Comment by anon — Jul 17, 2008 @ 4:13 pm
Enjoying Elefunk so far. Puzzle mode is just that - puzzling! - and the Multiplayer “jenga style” mode is a hoot. Nice one!
Comment by Zoob — Jul 17, 2008 @ 4:40 pm
Great!!! Now I’m even more disappointed!! So where is WipEout HD???!!!!
Comment by MoreCakeNOW! — Jul 17, 2008 @ 4:45 pm
I think this is a good update, Elefunk looks good and I have the money I saved on Echochrome after it was more than a fiver and it put me off.
Is Wipeout HD going to be any good, or is it just that we don’t have it and it is something to complain about? If I’m honest I couldn’t care less but as it gets mentioned every day over and over I wondered if I was missing something. Of course, Pain got mentioned everyday over and over and that’s crap.
Comment by thefamouskevin — Jul 17, 2008 @ 5:00 pm
got Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm from the Jap store last week and i have to say i was pretty impressed, it’s mad as a bag of cats but you seriously can’t tell the difference between in game cel-shading and the tv series.
spot on. think i’ll go download the english version.

Fires up ps3
Logs in PAL store
UK E3 section : 8 videos
thats it…
Logs in US store
US E3 section : 44 items
8 wallpapers
1 theme
35 videos
That is ONLY looking at the E3 bit - ignoring everything else, and the US store is still due their update later today I believe…
(So the 36 E3 download GAP between stores will get bigger!!)
Also have a feeling if US get Elefunk they will also get a DEMO!
Meanwhile on Ms LIVE: going into Game Videos, New Arrivals, E3
45 videos on UK store
45 videos on US store
in fact the only differences are 1 video for NCAA Football (which is not in E3 section)
& 1 demo Tales of Vesperia US only
(didn’t check themes)
Thats 2 items difference, Only 1 if your counting E3 only stuff on LIVE

On a more positive note, “think” the Americans had to pay for the Naruto demo, via Qore…
Thats a small bone we have been thrown…
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Jul 17, 2008 @ 6:00 pm
Yay! None of these things have made it to the store I am looking at yet… I wonder if this is on anything but the UK store.
Comment by Tiran Kenja — Jul 17, 2008 @ 6:13 pm
Haha, typical. And just as submitted that I restarted the store and it was there. I guess their PSN Store intern reads the SCEE forums after all
Comment by Tiran Kenja — Jul 17, 2008 @ 6:15 pm
is the ultimate ninja storm demo already out on amrican playstation store for free?
Comment by 1XFalls — Jul 17, 2008 @ 7:50 pm
DON’T BUY ELEFUNK, THE US GETS IT TODAY FOR ONLY $4.99, THATS HALF THE PRICE AS THE EURO ELEFUNK IS PRICED AT.
WHY DO WE HAVE TO GET SCREWED!?!?!?
Comment by Steve — Jul 17, 2008 @ 7:57 pm
How come I can’t find the naruto demo? All the other content such as Elefunk and E3 videos are avaiable..
Comment by p2vollan — Jul 17, 2008 @ 8:16 pm
And that’s on the EU store btw
Comment by p2vollan — Jul 17, 2008 @ 8:22 pm
@16 - Aye, WipEout HD will be worth it. I’m putting faith in it. How can it not be? Am not even remotely tempted by Fatal Inertia, quite frankly it’s going to be pants comparitively speaking. Actually, no it’s just pants.
I’m spending my pennies on the SSHD update, Elefunk & the Metal Gear Online extra modes when I eventually get logged into Konami…
Comment by Zoob — Jul 17, 2008 @ 9:00 pm
I bought Elephunk because I liked the fact it was £4.99 and not £6.99, then I saw on the US blog that in the US it’s just $4.99!!!!
This is seriously uncool, I joked in a previous thread about SCEE getting to the point where they just changed the $ for a £ and it’s happened already!!!
Then I realised something, this isn’t a £4.99 title this is what was, up until the last month or so ago, a £3.49 title!
What’s the deal SCEE? Crap service AND price increases? This is not the way to run the PSN Store or keep your customers happy!
Just because MS set their own crazy exchange rate with their points system they can get away with it to an extent as people will have a dissociation with seeing 800 points and £ values, as 800 points just becomes 800 points. It does not mean Sony should jump on the “let’s rip off the Europeans because they bend over and take it” band wagon, as for me having a fair PSN price policy was a huge selling point!
Old Sony pricing policy:
$9.99 = £4.99 (take off VAT and this actually means the UK were getting it a few pence cheaper at £4.25/$8.52)
$4.99 = £3.49 (this was nearly spot on just $1 dearer, take off VAT the price is £2.97/$5.95)
New Sony pricing (implemented for no apparent reason with no significant shift in the market or exchange rates):
$9.99 = £6.99 (suddenly ex VAT our titles cost £5.95/$11.29 - $1.30 more than the US (13% up), and £2 more than a few weeks ago aka a near 40% increase!
$4.99 = £4.99 (again ex VAT our titles cost £4.25/$8.52 - an astonishing $3.53 more than the US (71% up!), and £1.50 more than a few weeks ago aka a near 43% uncrease!
My question to SCEE is how can you justify this unwarranty price hike? Of course we’ll never get an answer, we never do….
Comment by Apnomis — Jul 17, 2008 @ 9:13 pm
Why the hell don’t we get the demo of Elefunk when it will be released today in the US together with the full game!?
Comment by KidCactus — Jul 17, 2008 @ 9:34 pm
Is it possible to use a VISA credit card to buy things from the US store? I’ve used it to buy things from the HK store before (Dark Mist + Expansion for the same price as Dark Mist standalone from the euro store), but I read something about needing extra verification in the US. If not, is there any other ways to buy from the US store?
I ask because, like #5, I paid £7 for Echochrome and regretted it (Especially when I saw it was $10 in America). I have yet to check the price of Elefunk, but I bought it today and if it is $5 I’ll not be happy <_£7 and £3.50 ->£5 doesn’t carry on
Comment by Talvon — Jul 17, 2008 @ 9:39 pm
Seems to have made a mess of my last post, the last part should read:
Elefunk, but I bought it today and if it is $5 I’ll not be happy.
I hope this trend of £5 to £7 and £3.50 to £5 games doesn’t carry on

WipEout HD due ‘before the end of the year’
Posted Jul 17th 2008 6:15PM by Alan Tsang
We haven’t heard much from WipEout HD since PlayStation Day more than two months ago. Unfortunately, SCEE president David Reeves just spoke out about it, and informed us that “there is a specific technical problem with WipEout that we have to solve. I can’t go into details but it is a really, really tricky technical problem that no region has been able to solve at the moment.” Wipeout is an updated version of earlier PSP titles WipEout Pulse and Pure that aims to run at 1080p and 60 fps. Could the technical problem have something to do with getting the game to run at that resolution? Speculation aside, Reeves believes the game will “come out before the end of the year” but cautions that “it is something that was just very difficult to get to grips with.” We think it is safe to say we are all looking forward to this title when it is complete.

@ 25: Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
I mean seriously, no. No, no, no, no, no, no. Not happy.Toys out pram time. Gah! Honestly, no. FFXIII no longer exclusive, GTA4 wasn’t exclusive, MGS4 completed, WipEout HD & GT not due at any point this year - what is the point?! Really! Mirror’s Edge, Deus Ex 3, Tomb Raider Underworld, Ghostbusters & Fallout 3, none of them will be exclusive. StarCraft 2 & Jumpgate Evolution are both PC titles. I think I might actually just admit defeat & sell up, start playing multiplayer games with my friends on other platforms.
Bah. And humbug.
Comment by Zoob — Jul 18, 2008 @ 1:07 am
@27,
Home will be exclusive,
but then again
if even google is able to release a home-clone
the delaytactic used by sony is only familair to people who went to war in vietnam..
Comment by terrortime — Jul 18, 2008 @ 4:55 am
and yes,
what most expected,
SCEE SCREWS us again
while the US gets a FREE demo to try elefunk
we only can by the full game..
Elefunk - Free Demo, or Purchase ($4.99)
and also again 50% discount compaired to the already over a year $/€ convertion of 1.5 to 1
like i said earlier this week
a proxy in the US
some money on my virtual creditcard
games from yesasia or movietyme
and no investments on any which way anymore for the SCEE,
but im glad to support sales from SCEA (or SCEJ)
Comment by terrortime — Jul 18, 2008 @ 4:59 am
Hasn’t the change in price got more to do with conversion rates to the Euro than the dollar? The £ has been getting weaker against the € for a little while now. Have any of our European friends seen price changes, and can someone do the appropriate maths on that?
The fact there’s no Elefunk demo for us gets to me.
Comment by TheFamousKevin — Jul 18, 2008 @ 5:35 am
@30
normally it was 4.99$ = 4.99 euro
but now 4,99 in dollar (equal to 3.3 euro) in SCEA
or 7,99 EURO in SCEE for exactly the same item
is 2.5 times the amount of a price for exactly the same item.
it’s not even funny anymore and SCEE really should start thinking about their loyal customers
Comment by terrortime — Jul 18, 2008 @ 6:58 am
@31
Serious technical problem eh, that doesnt sound good at all. Perhaps the ships dont float anymore, that would put a bit of a problem on Wipeout…
Comment by Terry — Jul 18, 2008 @ 10:05 am
@terrortime 34
Gary from the mighty UK:R has summed Home up perfectly
“No release date. For a chatroom it’s giving away free. This is going to be the biggest financial disaster in modern gaming”
What I don’t understand is who the hell is developing home??
It’s not SOE? They could have just used a modified Everquest II engine or something
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Jul 18, 2008 @ 10:12 am
Also the number of E3 items at time of posting are:
TEN on PAL store
FIFTY FIVE on US store
that’s a gap of 45 downloads for E3 coverage between a UK and US store on PSN. And lets not forget E3 is/was the worlds most important Gaming Event….
(I imagine if you live elsewhere in the EU, that gap is even bigger)
Meanwhile on
Ms LIVE that gap is only TWO E3 items between
a UK and US service
Seems like SCEE are happy to price match cost of items UPWARDS from MS (& round up)
800 Ms points = 6.80
400 Ms points = 3.40
But still do not deem us worthy enough for DEMOS
or a reasonable time-frame for releases, if they even come here at all
While Ms offer both these even to their FREE users if they Live in the UK or USA
(only 1 week wait from Gold users)
SCEE is copying a competitors pricing UPWARDS but not level of service…
Look at post 32 and ACT!
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Jul 18, 2008 @ 10:38 am
The lazy people running the SCEE should be ashamed of themselves with their store coverage of E3. I mean, how difficult is it to put up some videos for an entire continent to enjoy?
I get it, we don’t matter. Well, now that Microsoft has Final Fantasy and you have nothing, you will eventually see how much YOU matter…
And don’t get me started on ‘Home’… What a joke.
Comment by lowestformofwit — Jul 18, 2008 @ 12:37 pm
Damn, why was I posting. I forgot this Blog has nothing to do with Sony. They hired a PR company to represent them in Europe. We’re not even good enough for them to listen to.
Comment by lowestformofwit — Jul 18, 2008 @ 12:47 pm
I am furious that I have paid DOUBLE for the “game” Elefunk that SCEA charged its customers. They also had the courtesy to offer their customers a demo.
I would never have even bought this P.o.S if I had had a demo. My mistake. I have been conned.
“Fool me once SCEE shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.”
I am never using the SCEE store again. They treat us like dirt. I have had enough
PS your e3 coverage is a disgrace. SCEE is incompetent and utterly hated by the vast majority of its customers.
