Free your imagination and prepare for plunder with this action-packed Ratchet & Clank PS3™ pirate mini-adventure - and get it before anyone else on PSN
Date/ city: Galleons, pirates, cutlasses – and a hugely powerful omni-wrench: it’s Ratchet and Clank™: Quest for Booty, the swashbuckling new Ratchet & Clank mini-adventure for PLAYSTATION®3, available to download from PLAYSTATION®Network from 21st August. The comically destructive mini-adventure – available at a wallet-friendly mini-price - challenges you to battle shiploads of deadly enemies, negotiate the treacherous Viper Caverns and survive the dark caves of Hoolefar Island to find the Fulcrum Star, a lost treasure that will point you to Clank’s whereabouts. You’ll mix your own bottles of rum, manipulate shadows, play pirate songs – and you’ll find allies in trusty pirate pal Rusty Pete and Talwyn, who’ll guide you through dark caves and help battle shiploads of deadly enemy troops. Your destiny is a confrontation with the Undead Robotic Pirates and a new archenemy - the evil Captain Angstrom Darkwater, a swaggering, surly buccaneer who was already killed once by Ratchet &Clank nemesis Captain Slag.
Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty contains up to five hours of action-packed gameplay in a tiny treasure-chest of an adventure that the entire family will enjoy. If you’re already a fan of the Ratchet & Clank series, you’re bound to love Quest for Booty. Excellent! Looking forward this one!

Aaaannnnd once again we will be able to get the Blu-ray version cheaper than the PSN one. With the suggested retail price identical to the PSN price, all the stores will sell it for less to be competitive.
And of course, when it comes to places like here in Denmark, the PSN prices get a hike up compared to the £ and € prices. So online stores, that sell the UK version, will be even cheaper than what we’d be able to get it for on PSN.

Let me get this straight… you’re moaning, because the Blu-ray is too cheap? They’re selling a 5 hour game for a tenner here… some fully blown games haven’t lasted that long! Christ, give it a break…

Sounds like a good deal. I won’t be buying it for a little while though as I’m still playing through the last instalment.

@3 - I think that #2’s point is that, psychologically, you’re paying the same amount for less. £10 for a disc, box & packaging, or £10 for a digital download?
If any of the console companies want to be able to push downloads as a viable alternative to retail boxes, then surely there’s no better way than to offer a financial incentive to go digital?

Senaste nytt om Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty…

The price of GBP 10.00 is likely to be a Recommended Retail Price too, so online retailers (if not high street stores) will sell under this price, maybe even as a ‘loss leader’, to get business on other higher profit items.
A good incentive to try digital downloads would be the inclusion of a “money off” voucher inside a boxed retail edition to download the same title from the PlayStation Store at a reduced price.
On this title, for instance, at GBP 10.00, then I would suggest a discount of GBP 2 or 3, maybe even up to 50% of the cost after purchasing the retail product would attract those who would normally not bother with the service.
After spending the initial GBP 10.00, and then a further GBP 5.00 for the download version on top, the punter could then read the printed manual, enjoy looking at the box artwork, and so on, and then upon completion could sell the commercial version on to another party, say at half price of the initial payment, and still have the digital version to return to in the future.
But GBP 10.00 for both the boxed & digital versions makes me think “Quest for Booty” is more of a description of the pricing model, rather than a continuation of the “Future: Tools of Destruction” story line, especially considering the rumours that the game-play is only 4 hours in length.

@12 Yeah, but you’d think retailers would have it available for pre-order. Maybe I just need to give it another week or so.

Personal preference for me is a physical disc always…
Not finished Tools of Destruction yet, but will pick up Quest for Booty for defs, just not at launch
& have no idea where this 360 trolls nonsense comes from? Gaming as a entertainment medium ROCKS!
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Aug 18, 2008 @ 5:08 pm
@15 it’s still a valid point. Why bother with the digital version when you can get a shiny disc, manual and box for the same cost? The physical one has a larger perceived value, and as has been stated, can be sold on at a later date.
Why would you want to pay the same amount for something you’re stuck with? Couple of quid less would sway a lot of people.
Oh and I do have a 360, but MS do the same with their Xbox classics. £10 for a game you can get 2nd hand for £3? LOL!

FFS yet another crap platform game…. where is WipEout HD?`?? this is starting to get really really lame Sony!!
Comment by MoreCakeNOW! — Aug 18, 2008 @ 6:38 pm
Original PlayStation titles in box, with manual, insert, and disc, in majority, sell for much less than the PlayStation (PC/Windows) Store downloadable titles.
Those titles that do demand higher prices because of their rare or scarce existence do not seem to be made available for the PS3 & PSP platforms.
Is it any wonder people turn to BitTorrent for ISO & CSO PSX EBOOT files?

fp.
Comment by fanpages — Aug 18, 2008 @ 6:44 pm
@23… I dunno… Sony can’t win… first they are moaned at because there are too many ’shooter’ based titles, then too many ‘platformers’, and now you get both together for half the price!
You’ll be telling me next that Capcom are bringing back NES titles from 1988 as they heard that “BC” was what people wanted on the PS3, not realising that we were talking about Backward Compatability
Still, at least when we asked for a title that was gonna Rock, man, they couldn’t confused that with a 1987 title for the Famicom.
Oh.
I think I’ll get my coat…

@fanpages - ha ha ha very good
I enjoyed tools of destruction so I’ll probably pick this up at some point, the quality will be good and to be fair Uncharted was only 6-7 hours long and I happily paid full price for that so for a tenner this will be a bargain.. To download or not, that is the question..

well, i think i may be downloading it. £10 ain’t that much for a decent quality download. i could buy it on disc, sure, but then thas a disc that will just go in a pile, i barely read manuals and so forth.
The delayed release on disc is a good thing, should have done that with GT5:P too as it drives awareness of the psn. So yeh, looking foward to this one! hope is not too big though, i don’t have 10 gig to spare for siren and don’ want to upgrade me hard drive yet!
Comment by Liquidcalm — Aug 19, 2008 @ 8:37 am
going to get this on shiny flat thing. I WILL FIND ME SOME BOOTY!!
Downloads should be cheaper, or hardcopies should be a couple of quid more. also, imagine if PS2 was digital download only games, and your console broke, you’d have nothing to show for it, there would be no shelves full of secondhand games for people to buy, no way for you to take the title around a friends to play, no trade-in/resale value… there would be no pile of your favorite games boxes next to the console, no joy in rummaging around trying to find just the right title for you and your mates to play.
can you hit your friend around the back of the head with a download if he messes up during a game of Army of Two?
downloads are evil and give your console teh AIDS*
*only applicable to 2.42 update.

Tough choice. For the same price I can get a boxed version, complete with a manual I’ll never read, or a downloadable version that I can play without needing to find the disk.
Yeah, tough choice.
Guess it’ll be mine on Friday.

…We contacted Sony and were told that the difference between the European and NA version could be blamed on the 11 languages being included with the former, with two .pkg files containing 5-6 languages each.
