An apology!
An explanation! (a good 1)
Some good news.
An announcement saying that red alert 3 was back in development and would be released same time as everywhere else.
Some in game god of war trailers, also if it was available a twisted metal trailer.

Firm release date and more details on PlayTV, i think from what i can find its 10th September at £70 but i want to order this and have all the info on it ASAP.
Resistance 2 and SOCOM Beta details for Europe.

@ E-ROLE - definately! we should all get a special sackperson beenie with every pre-order. they’re being all a bit too quiet about the UK release date for my liking.
but LZ announcements, some decent (j)RPG or at least some games that are not drivers or shooters or a combination of them.
price plan for PlayTV that puts it in line with PC based USB DVB tuners (£20) and not priced the same as a stand alone unit with inbuilt 80gb drive (£79.99!!)
also, lots of hotties promoting games (not Jade Raymond), always a must i feel. the Japanese excel at that sort of thing at their game shows.
@ manley 5 - an apology? freezes - over - hell - when.

Based on previous Sony presentations:
We do not need to see clips of games that have been out 6 months already. With the PS3 catalogue being what it is, don’t worry - we know what is out already! No chance of anything getting lost in the scrum.
We do not need to see clips and previews of games that we’ve been getting clips and previews for the last 6-18 months.
We Want:
ONLY gameplay footage.
ONLY release dates/relevant updates for the vaporware of the last year
ONLY to hear that SCEE will sort their shit out in the next 3 months or the electronic collars explode.
ONLY to here some sort of contrition towards Sony’s European customers that have been so royally screwed in the past and no doubt the future (don’t think the collars will work tbh)
ONLY to hear the SCEE blog will be started AND updated regulary and well like the US blog with decent answers (maybe a Tesla coil strike on them)
ONLY to hear HOME beta applications will be open to ALL PS3 online users (ack, forgot. we’re not getting Teslas on the PS3!)
I could go on….

I’d like SCEE to tell me what they’re going to do to try and tempt me to spend my hard earned cash on my PS3 instead my PSP, 360, Wii or DS.
I’d like them to tell us Europeans why we constantly get shafted with release dates and prices.
I’d like them to tell us why the EU PSN Store is treated like an after-thought, and then they expect us to be happy with the crappy offerings!
I’d like to know about any decent quality games that are coming… where’s the RPG’s the PS2 was famous for?!
I’d like to know when they’re going to start treating us Europeans as valued customers, and stop taking us all for granted!
On a personal note, I’d like to see some decent Booth Babes!
I’m a hot blooded male! What more can I say?!
Comment by Monkey Rimmer — Aug 8, 2008 @ 12:43 pm

For SCEE to further discriminate amongst its customer base while in the US they simply want you to download a theme seems a bit… well… like the usual SCEE. Oh, never mind.
Comment by Shrui — Aug 8, 2008 @ 12:45 pm
First of all, I’m trying to get some work sent to me so I stop posting on here all afternoon!
Secondly, on the back of what Monkey Rimmer said I’ve realised I’ve spent more on my iPod Touch apps store in two months than I have on Sony this year (and I’ve been getting plenty of the free apps).
Come on Sony, make me poor again like you did last year when I bought the PS3!
Comment by Shrui — Aug 8, 2008 @ 12:48 pm
@Mr. Monkey - yes open Home beta would be the ultimate but I can’t see that happening so I just wanted to give SCEE some selection criteria carefully crafter to ensure that I would be amongst those selected! Yeh, right as if SCEE read through all this stuff anyway!

A new Jak and Daxter would be great and so would a new installment of Uncharted ( a bit longer this time ). Actually anything new from Kojima, Naughty Dog, Insomniac would be excellent!
News about Linger in Shadows and Heavy Rain would also be good as would information about Team Ico’s new offering. Though I suspect some of that info will be held back for the Tokyo Game Show in October.
We are already heading towards the end of 2008, so I think Sony needs to start tempting us gamers with what is coming at the end of 2009, other than KillZone 2. So they really need to get their marketing people working on what will appeal in November/December 2009.
All the console companies need to forget about showing gamers, games that are 3-4 years away from showing up on the shelves. I know they do that to test out the waters and gauge gamer reaction, but I just want to know what I’ll have in my hands next year not 3 years from now ( MAG I’m looking at you ). 1 year away is a lot more tangible than 3.
Oh yeah and only in-game footage!! Which would fit in well with my one year away announcements. Those target renders are getting decidedly boring and gamers have lost faith in them. At least intelligent gamers have lost faith in them :).
Comment by Savage( CartBlanche ) — Aug 8, 2008 @ 2:37 pm
Oh yeah one last thing. Home should abandon the 3D models they are currently using and instead all avatars should be based on LBP sack-people!
Comment by Savage( CartBlanche ) — Aug 8, 2008 @ 2:41 pm
@Savage
LBP sack people in every game as an unlockable I think should be the way forward. After seeing the video on the LBP site I want to be blowing away Hellghast sack people in Killzone 2!
I might even buy Heavenly Sword if I can play as a Sack-Nuriko through the game!
Sack People!Sack People!Sack People!Sack People!

Comment by D Turkin — Aug 8, 2008 @ 5:21 pm
Europe is the PlayStation’s most loyal market, I want to see Sony show some f****ing respect.
I dont understand why Sony’s treat their Euro customers as second-class citizens by delaying products and making promos directed at USA /Japan only. Its because they delayed the Euro launch that the Xbox 360 got a foothold in the UK. Leipzig is a chance for Sony to say “WE VALUE YOUR SUPPORT - WE WANT TO RETURN THE FAVOUR!”
* NOT TO TELL US ABOUT STUFF THAT WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR. AGAIN. JUST TO REVEAL NEW STUFF THAT IS AVAILABLE.
* Launch the video store for Europe at Leipzig
* open HOME to everyone at Leipzig
* new Fimware launch at LeiPzig.
-voice chat & features that at least equal Xbox Live
* Show new stuff that hasnt been seen before
* Reveal Final Fantasy VII as a PS3 exclusive (and keep it that way)
* Reveal a new PS3 special edition gamepad that is more ergonomic.
* show us how they are going to advertise Little Big Planet to the casual market
* I want Sony to talk to us, show us their vision for the future. Make us believe again!
Comment by Andronix — Aug 8, 2008 @ 5:42 pm
What I want shown…..let’s see…..
A euro PSN Store that’s relevant.
A reason to switch on my PS3 rather than my 360. (Exclusive games would help)
A complete lack of CG trailers.
An apology for the disdain with which the loyal euro PS fan-base has been treated.
An apology for the disdain with which the third-party developers have been treated.
Only games that have entered production (no Getaway or 8 Days-style vapourware teasers).
@shrui - That’s what I think when I think of SCEE:
Sack People!Sack People!Sack People!Sack People!
Comment by fustacluck — Aug 8, 2008 @ 5:47 pm
As long as they don’t say 09 will be the year of the ps3…
‘08 was supposed to be that, and I can’t see too many original games coming out, most of the stuff announced is either multi-platform or shooters aimed at trying to combat the 360’s dominance of the US market
LBP is a step in the right direction, but it won’t appeal to all gamers, we need far more games that push the envelope
SCEE is a joke, I’m fed up with being treated with contempt, and if they don’t want me as a customer I’ll happily spend my money elswhere
Comment by Chris — Aug 8, 2008 @ 5:59 pm
I want to see the PSN REALLY roll out for the PSP.
I want it to be a part of the network completely. Trophies, Friendlists, be able to message PS3 users, Dedicated servers for true multiplayer support, Playstation Store.
I want all the realistic feature on the PS3 to be available on the PSP as well to make it feel like you can be part of the Playstation community community while mobile.
This is something that would really show Sony taking online to the next level.
Comment by Archmaester — Aug 8, 2008 @ 6:03 pm
Lots of RPG.
And NO MORE shooters.
Thank you.
(Yes, I know, if there are some RPG to come, they won’t be announced at Leipzig. But come on, Sony, the lack of RPG on PS3 is a joke.)
Comment by SteNe — Aug 8, 2008 @ 9:25 pm
To be honest if I wasnt so pissed when my 360 did the ring of death thing I’d get another one and ditch the PS3. I’ve got that fed up with it now, SCEEs support is pathetic and their stupid if they think people will put up with it. I wont be on Sonys bandwagon come the next generation.

Comment by manley — Aug 11, 2008 @ 12:49 pm
PRIORITISE EUROPE
Europe was an untouchable fortress that Sony owned. Delays have meant Microsoft are now bold enough to go for the European consumer base.
MS have copied Singstar with Lips and are launching it with wireless mics and features that Singstar should have had.
MS have copied PS Eyetoy & Eye of JudgEment with some rubbish ‘Movies’ game and Viva Pinata game. I have bought a PS Eye but how many games support its features? Burnout Paradise is good, as it takes picture of losing racer, but why not make it obligatory?
The mic. in the PS eye doesnt work with MOST games- eg Warhawk. Why not? This really doesnt make sense when there isnt even a voicechat solution.
Sony promised HOME early last year, now MS will beat them to the punch with a 2nd rate Mii/Home rip-off. It will probably launch first.
Launch an official wireless mic, and bundle a wired one in the box.
Listen to feedback from Europe and pass it on to Japan’s firmware team.
DELIVER
Comment by Andronix — Aug 11, 2008 @ 12:55 pm
Sony has totally screwed up. They make realy good TVs but would you buy one that makes you a cup of tea or wipes your backside? Maybe. Point is people buy products to fill their needs, I bought a PS3 to play games yet continually their trying to make it do all these magical things and then getting bored and moving on.
Delaya, more delays and Hype. Instead of “Now Thats Living” maybe their slogan should be “Now Thats S***”…
Rant over until Thursday and the next crap update…

Was nosing through Tesco this morning looking for mu lunch as you do and I stumbled across an edition of Edge which has a massive feature on how they are effectively reinventing the system with new software and features.
As I dont own one I dont follow it but it looks like they have a clone of Home on the horizon and it looks closer than the sony incarnation too. when are sony going to get their fingers out of their backsides. do they not realise they are about to get their arses kicked?

threespeech, i would seriously mention the current hatred towards SCEE at the moment, i like to think of myself as a patient guy (and ps fanboy) but i am beggining to lose ones grip…EVERY forum out in ‘teh nets’ are people miserable with the service we get, compared to the other territories…why do you think people are turning to the xbox? europe is by far the largest territory sony holds, and yet they couldnt care less trying in vain to penetrate the american markets??? i love my PS3 and i want it to succeed, but that isnt gonna happen if this euro maket isnt sorted out!
Threespeech, if you hold ANY leeway with SCEE, now would be a good time to break it to them…because within time they wont have any jobs left to f*ck things up with..mark my words

Meaning they have knocked out the new avatar system in about a year, or maybe a few years in “secret”…

I would like to see details of the rumoured follow-up to “Black”, a nailed-down release date in the UK for “Tekken 6″, and a UK-based Games Convention of the scale (not necessarily the attendance) of the ‘E3 Media and Business Summit’, the ‘International Consumer Electronics Show’ (in Las Vegas, in January), & the upcoming ‘Leipzig Games Convention’ & the ‘Tokyo Game Show’ that is not just for the press &/or invited guests.
My kids & I enjoyed the Play.com Live event on 15 March this year (at Wembley Stadium), but it was limited in what it could achieve. Microsoft seem to be heavily promoting their console as a majority of the stands on the ground floor where Xbox 360 machines. If you never ventured upstairs (unless you wished to look down on the stage where Gemma Atkinson & Iain Lee were hosting) the Sony oriented stands would have been missed.
We did see videos of “PlayStation Day” (in May this year) either here at ThreeSpeech.com, on the PlayStation Network/Store, and elsewhere on the Interweb, but nothing beats hands-on contact with the game titles & peripherals that are to be released in the coming months.
Also, the Edinburgh Interactive Festival (concluding today, 12 August 2008) seems to be primarily dominated, and sponsored, by Nintendo.
We do get “MotorStorm Pacific Rift” on Tour, I suppose… so mustn’t grumble… it’s the British* way…
* Other regions of the United Kingdom, Southern Ireland, and all other European countries (except Leipzig & Edinburgh) can grumble if they like.
Thanks for putting my views forward, Three Speech…

Once retired from service, Mr Reeves can say what he thinks… much like former SCEE president Chris Deering (dubbed “The Father of the PlayStation”)…
[ ps3fanboy.com/2008/08/12/ex-scee-boss-sony-and-nintendo-hardware-sales-will-tie-by-2011/ ]
—
…Deering believes that “active installed base for hardware” will go from 316 million currently to over 500 million in the next three years. Heading the pack will be Sony and Microsoft, having both sold 230 million units. Sony will have sold 70 million PS3s, 90 million PS2s and 70 million PSPs. Nintendo will have sold 150 million units of the DS and 80 million units of the Wii. Microsoft will also experience “decent growth,” selling an additional 40 million units of the Xbox 360 or any of its future incarnations totaling 80 million.
—
70 million PS3s sold by the end of 2011? Let’s get our priorities right… let’s aim to tie with the opposition not surpass their market share!
Phil Harrison has been quiet recently. I hope he hasn’t lost his mojo in his new role.
He is rumoured to have resigned as he didn’t want to get involved in the cycle of discussions regarding the PS4.

Ok, what do I want to see:
- Proper, firm, release dates especially for HOME
- Wireless Mics
- Some PS2 games on PSN (or at least some genuine classic PS1 games)
- News from Naughty Dog, everything they touch turns to gold.
- An APOLOGY. SCEE must know how annoyed alot of European gamers are so a simple admission and apology would go a long way and isn’t exactly a lot of effort
@ gazo69 - The reason people complain is becasue they have every right to do so and this is as good a place as any to vent their frustrations. I see your point that the store is free but it was always a selling point of the console.
This brings me to the main reson I am disappointed with SCEE. They keep making promises that they don’t keep (Singstore, HOME) and treating Europe as an afterthought with releases coming inordinately late.
They have worn many of us supporters down and lost the sense of excitement their hype used to generate.
Comment by TheShirts — Aug 13, 2008 @ 9:22 am
SCEE still haven’t bothered to even put Siren (to buy) on PSN in Australia yet…
@gazbo69 if SCEE dont put stuff up we CANT BUY IT! Bionic Commando is out today on Worldwide (including UK) on Xbl, it due for release on PSN tomorrow JP & US only, PAL PSN users are in TBA limbo. 1942 Joint Strike on XBL in the UK for a month… STILL NOT on PAL PSN… So with your vast intellect, care to justify SCEEs reasoning for delaying titles and effectively losing sales from those that are multi-format like myself & frustrating people who only have a PS3 and live in PAL regions…
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Aug 13, 2008 @ 9:46 am
@gazbo69
Just to add my point, the store is not “FREE”, in fact when products do come out late as they always do we get charged more than everyone else. This includes the same products on 360 and all the other regional stores. I know that to play online is free but my point is I want product support and We are simply not getting it.
As for the fanboy remark, the very fact your slagging people off for having the right to complain suggests you are one yourself.
Comment by Terry — Aug 13, 2008 @ 10:20 am
Some folk here clearly have nothing better to do than whinge at every single thing ThreeSpeech posts, it’s baffling. If you’re that disappointed in the SCEE Store, buy from the US or the Japanese one, and just deal with it and get some sense of perspective.
Comment by nofi — Aug 13, 2008 @ 10:40 am

its not a free service cause i pay for all the games i get, and i pay more than everyone else.
why dont you read the threads and you will see that the vast majority of us are growing increasingly p@#sed off with the way that the pal region gets treated.
Comment by manley — Aug 13, 2008 @ 10:58 am
@Nofi
Yes but if we all buy from the US store is that going to provide incentive for SCEE to change??
Errr no as they will just be happy to carry on providing the same sub-standard service…
As for perspective, yes in the grand scheme of things the PAL store is nothing compared to war, hunger, global warming. However I am considering throwing my hat back into the games development arena (having previously attempted a degree in Games Design and dropped out)
I will be going down the independent route, and I would like to think what ever I spend my free time developing, over the next few years. Will be available for purchase to the largest possible number of consumers.
SCEEs behaviour from a developers pov is frustrating also, never mind a consumers….
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Aug 13, 2008 @ 11:15 am
Also I have personally emailed David Reeves several times, and have received nothing constructive in return…
When a individual is forced to contact a Senior Executive in order to get some “basic” answers, that is a sign something is very wrong with the organisation…
Comment by Mr. Monkey — Aug 13, 2008 @ 11:24 am
I would expect to see:
- GT5 delayed until circa 2012 because of unexpected delays
- Wipeout HD delayed for unspecified time
- Wireless mics for Singstar delayed for unspecified time
- HOME delayed for unspecified time
- More FPS announced…
I would like SCEE to:
- Treat EU users with more respect
- concentrate on making the PS3 into what it should be - A GAMES CONSOLE!!!
- Release demos to accompany PSN games (I know they’re only £5 but a trial would be nice because you can’t sell them if they’re crap)
- make PSN price reductions for older titles.
- Make the Singstore credible
- VERY IMPORTANT - stop letting XBOX get exclusivity on stuff - why should we have to wait this long for Rock Band???
What annoys me most is the PS3 is an awesome machine being let down badly by shocking support - XBOX should have been crushed by now!

It’s looking less likely that Eat Sleep Play will reveal their new PS3 game at the conference, since previous evidence looks to suggest an internal development showing. However, there should be a healthy list of titles on show, including the following:
- MotorStorm Pacific Rift
- LittleBigPlanet
- Resistance 2
- Free Realms
- The Agency
- DC Universe Online (announced at E3)
- Infamous
- PlayStation Home
- Killzone 2 (single player and multiplayer hands-on)

Not too shabby, but we certainly hope for more new exclusive game announcements.

Aquila and others here said everything.
-Treat EU customers with respects beginning with prices which respect the true euro/$ ratio.
-Releasing games instead of delaying games is a point you should consider seriously.
-Some big exclusive third-part developpers exclusive game.
-Some new generation games which illustrate at last how more powerful than Xbox360 the PS3 is. Because I fed up with Xbox 360 games which are technically better on the MS device.
-”Stop letting MS getting exclusive stuff” : No more to add. Sony lose every exclusivity (like FFXIII : Shame on you) and in the same time MS get all the japanese RPG !
-Talking about RPG, do you realise that Xbox 360 has now more RPG announced and exclusive than the PS3 ??? I didn’t thought it could be possible few years ago.
-In fact, i’d like to see at leipzig things which make me not regret my choice because i must admit that Xbox360 become more and more interesting since few months and i see no other reaction from sony than asking us to wait and delaying games.
What are you waiting for ?

David Reeves and the rest of SCEE made redundant (trying to keep it clean), or that from now on we will be treated equally with the rest of SCE territory’s and not last to get everything!
I don’t give a damn about games - I want fairness and equality!
*Same PSN Store layout (were the only ones different)
*Fairer prices
*Equal chances to enter game betas (we dont have a gamestop to pre-order from and we don’t get Quore - instead we get some tramps in a minibus looking for unsigned bands!)
*Equal release dates (games and PSN updates)
*Video Store?
*SCEE blog? It’s shameful we have to hear SCEE news through the SCEA blog! SCEE don’t communicate with it’s customers
Need I go on? How are SCEE failing to realise all this when every gaming forum mention the same?
