If you’re a game developer (or you want to be one) get down to this free event, which is part of London Games Fringe. The panel of speakers includes the man known to many as the ‘Father of the European PlayStation’, Chris Deering. Chris and the rest of the panel will be discussing the future of game development in light of piracy and open source technology. The event starts at 6:00pm on Tuesday the 28th at Westminster Kingsway college. At the time of writing there were only 59 places left, so be quick!

I think I will be attending this as I’m already doing some work for Sumo Digital.

Sounds pretty good. Would love to hear what Chris has to say about open source - will be interesting to see how the independant games developers feel too…

Three Speech - do you know if Prince of Persia classic will be available on the UK store today? Been looking forward to this one.

-unrelated to the topic-
Yoda is out for Soul Cal.! And He’s just as dodgy as I’d heard, fantastic.
Comment by IvanFoul — Oct 23, 2008 @ 5:55 pm
@8 [reakt]:
Yes… “Prince of Persia Classic” is available for GBP 7.99.
No Playable Demo to complement it though
Also, “NovaStrike” has finally made it to Europe (GBP 6.29).
BFN,
fp.
(”Additional Character: Yoda (Game Pack)” for ‘Soul Calibur IV’ costs GBP 3.19, btw)

I take offence to your happiness ‘tone, & demand you remove the smile from your face with immediate effect.
Presumably the game servers are already online for you & the Stateside punters who shop at Wal-Mart &/or Target outlets…

PS. On the US Store is *supposed* to be “LEGO(r) Batman” Demo & two videos for the upcoming “Pain” add-on content (”Movie Studio” & “David Hasselhoff” character; but nothing for the “Buzz” character).
I’m only seeing the “Additional Character: Yoda” (USD 4.99) update for “Soul Calibur IV” at present though.
!?!

@ fanpages - i haven’t actually checked to see if the USA servers are up (the UK ones are offline) too busy playing the game and trawling through the tutorials again, no reloading of beta data. will check when i get home tonight.
got my very first trophies ever though.
sorry, but i can’t seem to stop smiling since i got this

@fanpages - I bought Prince of Persia classic last night. It plays almost exactly the same as the original Prince of Persia so it’s pretty good in my opinion. Graphically it’s been cleaned up and the animation on the protagonist is a little more detailed. He also sports a few extra moves - being able to step off of walls to reach ledges for example. However, it’s not that special to look at and hasn’t been improved as much as other old-skool titles that have gone the HD route. 2 additional modes are unlockable - Time Attack and Survival. I’ve unlocked the first of those - now I have the chance to play through the entire game as fast as I can! Survival is not unlocked yet but we can probably just guess the objective of that one! The sword fights seem a lot more difficult that I remember from the original game! I guess I need a little more time to practice. I don’t think the game supports trophies - bit of a downer for a trophy-collector like myself.

Hey, father, could you please pull the strings to make the EU PS Store a little better? It really sucks. There is no DEMOS section and things are almost impossible to find. I don’t understand why the US store is A LOT better.
Comment by Torpedo — Oct 24, 2008 @ 6:02 pm
It is not out-of-date information? Because I have other data on this theme. http://hotsalego.com/map.html
