Just to keep you all in the loop we’re expecting SCEE to send us some official information on the situation with LittleBigPlanet very soon. As soon as we get it we’ll set it live, so keep watching this space…

Let’s hope the incompetent buffoons at SCEE haven’t screwed up again.

Looks like a recall. November 14th being the new release date.
We shall see.
Comment by Brodie — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:22 pm
I would love know why its delayed in europe and not in the US considering that it is made here?
Comment by manley — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:23 pm
Picked the game up last night here in the US, so its a bit late if they are planning something like a recall, or am I not understanding what this post is about?
Comment by Gorlith — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:25 pm
@ Manley
SCEE and SCEA have different approval processes. A game that might offend in Europe may not offend in the U.S. so the game may pass SCEA’s process with the Quran references - but not SCEA’S.
Comment by Brodie — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:28 pm
yes, why recal it in the EU and not the rest of the world? If it is to do with the rumoured song lyrics from a certain religious article that just doesn’t make any sense.
Comment by gooftroop — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:29 pm
@Brodie - but they wouldn’t send for approval after it’s gone gold! Surely it’s already approved, no?
Comment by reakt — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:32 pm
It’s incredible.. better i no comment
Comment by Wildy — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:40 pm
Biggest game of the PS3 so far and Sony have messed it up already!
Comment by James — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:42 pm
I don’t think that the approval process involves checking for every cultural or religious problem that could arise.
As soon that I heared the news I cancelled my preorder. I reordered online in canada because it looks that it will take longer to get a copy here in Belgium then to fly it in from Canada.
It’s also a lot cheaper if you know that they dare to ask 80 euro’s for LBP.

@reakt
thats what i thought.
you know i actually booked a week off work for this game! the misus is away in spain house to my self. no joke!
Comment by manley — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:44 pm
If SCEE have messed up this release, then they don’t deserve to be in charge of important events like this game. If it’s a recall over some potentially upsetting song lyrics, why don’t they just release the game and then field the complaints from the two or three people who would actually be offended. Why does everyone have to suffer because of a few delicate little flowers? It’s probably one of those pre-emptive political correctness things which wouldn’t have been a problem until someone theorised that it might cause offence.
Get the game out, already.
Comment by Englishman — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:44 pm
@Reakt
Yeah, I was thinking that too but the only thing I can think of is that the song was missed. It’s a licenced piece of music and therefore not created for the game so there’s a chance that whoever was reviewing the soudtrack just didn’t realise the lyrics in the song was quoting the Quran.

ASAP please TS. Considering the inflammatory nature of the delay, this needs clearing up quickly.
If anyone hasn’t read the post which was the catalyst for the most recent delay rumours, here’s a link:-

@ Reakt
WOW, some synchronicity going on there
Comment by Divine — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:54 pm
OK now I understand the problem. What I don’t understand is this. The song can be purchased on CD from Amazon. So why all this fuss over a computer game featuring a song and not over the CD also featuring it?
Comment by reakt — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:55 pm
Could they just have “not noticed” and then, depending on whether any religious crybabies noticed, not withdrawn it then? It seems pretty crazy to do this just because someone MIGHT complain. Cultivate some stones, Sony.
Comment by Rich — Oct 17, 2008 @ 4:55 pm
@reakt
so true! but the fact that it is meant to be a game that is also aimed at the youngers then you can see why they recall it. so this is one hell of a cock up then!
Comment by manley — Oct 17, 2008 @ 5:08 pm
This would be a major pain in the a**!
Comment by Fernando Amaral — Oct 17, 2008 @ 5:37 pm
Why recall it all?
Everything will be offensive to someone at somepoint. I got offended my muslims kicking up a fuss like this and still have the check to bomb my home land!
Comment by SlapnutzUK — Oct 17, 2008 @ 6:28 pm
@manley - That’s a fair point. It’s actually lucky the problem was spotted now and not after release. Imagine the stink it would have caused then.
Comment by reakt — Oct 17, 2008 @ 7:23 pm
