Once again we’ve been reading up on the game of the moment, and we’d like to share with you what we’ve enjoyed most over the weekend. Click through for some stuff to read and watch between games…
Nice write up on the transient though blog…
A useful trophy guide on PS3 Fanboy…
Get the edge with 1UP’s LittleBigPlanet University
A man builds a level based on his own face (we’ve all been there)…
And finally, how to beat the Skulldozer in style…
personally been reading up on how the moderators on LBP have gone batsh-t crazy deleting loads of levels for ‘copyright’ infringements and other stupid reasons. say adios to your MGS, SoC or GoW tribute levels.
personally i wasted 30hrs of my life building a level that refuses to upload. been trying since friday evening. i even resorted to cutting it down into three smaller parts, still refuses to upload them.
what with that and the ongoing server issues, my play/create/share scores never changing from 000, my uploaded photos all being borked, the refusal to load levels when connected to PSN from my moon..
i’m about ready to chuck the damn thing in the bin.

“Just create a level that references anyone else’s IP, and you’re at risk of losing all your work on the spot. Considering some people are spending standard workdays on these things, keep that in mind before you plunge into your Metal Gear Solid tribute.”

Light at the end of the moderating tunnel perhaps?

Motorstorm 2 is an absolute corker, if you like the first prequel, you’d definitely love this even more!
The graphics are vastly superior and much more detailed. The loading times have been reduced alot, overall it’s just amazing; more tracks more terrains, more challenges AND splitscreen, what more could you ask? (replays?) :)p
As mentioned in the review it also has Photo Mode, so you can now pause the game and really go to town and scrutinise all the details to your hearts content and save them too!
Great stuff!

@ Gary Mucklow - hmmm, so we’ll get a generic message stating copyright infringement or level was not within terms of the EULA then instead of the just ridiculous ‘moderated’ one then (like they do on youtube). to be honest that EULA could be used to pull ANY level based on the agreement if they feel like it.
what ever happened to ‘fair use’ copyright terms??
when did everyone/moderators turn into a bunch of nazis?
anyway, i deleted ALL my LBP savedata tonight. i’ve just had enough.
may go back to it in a month or so to see if it’s fixed.
i’m taking the long walk into the rad-wastes instead.
ALSO, the Store is currently unable to process Maestro card payments. Sony’s help desk has no time frame on when it’s likely to be fixed either. their sage advice, just use another card!!
yet another reason why we should have prepaid cards for the Store.

Clicking the “Game Info” link on the Japanese site for the game may demonstrate what downloadable costumes we can look forward to in the coming week(s)…

more and more LBP and more problems
content gets deleted instead of innovated
User don’t have any rights on his own created content.
now LBP gets corrupted when you create a wheel

LBP is Sony’s Wii
everybody buys it but after 2 weeks its gathering dust…

Nearly all games out these days have some little glitches on release, PS3 or 360, both are as bad as the other.
These small issues with LBP are nothing to fret about, the game plays great, is excellent fun online and will be the success Sony expect it to be, if not I’ll buy a cat so I can kick it.
Comment by Robothamster — Nov 11, 2008 @ 1:31 pm
I dont see what the problem is!
you take other peoples logos and trademarks and upload them its your own problem not LBPs. They have to do it otherwise they would be sued.
you can make a tribute level without posting logos or trademarks

@ mobiletone
Maestro cards work fine on the PSN Store. I use my all the time, make sure all the info is correct to the letter.
With regards to moderation, I think it is for the best, it’s not exactly being creative if you’re ripping off other peoples work. And Sony are doing it for your own good, so you don’t get sued.
Comment by Dan — Nov 12, 2008 @ 2:14 pm
Just make sure you have a little notice that the content is used at the copyright owners permission (i.e. some things are allowed to be used for not-for-profit purposes, which a LBP level could count as) and you should be fine. If you don’t have the copyright owners permission then why is it unreasonable to remove it?
Anyway LBP should allow you to be more creative than just ripping off others ideas, and as long as you change enough of the details you can still have a level that captures the “spirit” of the thing it’s a tribute to without being copyright infringing.
The new rules for moderation should make it easier for the level designers to tweak it and reupload it - it may just be the name or a certain picture etc that is in breach so it could be a quick fix to resolve it.
It’s only like how YouTube is moderated, levels will get played by some people before they get moderated, it almost makes them limited edition levels lol
Same applies for inappropriate or libellous content…
It’s common sense and to be expected, but as per usual the fanboys are grabbing the story by the scruff of the neck and blowing it out of all of proportion in a bid to try and take the shine off Sony’s big hit and continue the recent trend of negative Sony/PS3 news blog stories!
