Aye it does look oooh so good.
Naughty dog have definitely managed to create a believable “every-man” character.
Uncharted is still probably one of my all time gems for the ps3

Great trailer. I’m really looking forward to this one! Played the last one through 4x over to get that platinum trophy!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to this game more than any other upcoming release, but dammit I wanted game play footage! That trailer’s no more use than the other teaser
Must play through Uncharted on Crushing to nab that Platinum…

The updated game engine looks very sweet indeed. I would have also liked to see more gameplay footage. Can’t wait, as I’m currently playing through U1 again.

Nice piece of CG and for those interested the latest issue of EDGE magazine has a bit Uncharted 2 feature. They have a lot of new pieces of concept art on show, and it sounds like the game is shaping up well, although they seem worried about the introduction of stealth sections.

Really looking forward to this, never finished Uncharted. Got about two thirds through then put it on the back burner…
Actually started to play it again today. Think my trip to Sullys bar the other day in the US home and watching this trailer, this morning, gave me the itch…
I just hope there is 1080 support in all versions this time as I had to import the NTSC, because it was cut from the PAL version, strange?
Comment by Mr.Monkey — Dec 15, 2008 @ 8:37 pm
@ 5: this IS gameplay footage, not CG.

“How will he get out of that one? Any thoughts?”
Well, if Charlie Croker were on-hand (not the hand dangling from the carriage; he’s just croaked), he’d say “Hang on, lads; I’ve got a great idea…”
…climb back up through the carriage vertically & stand on top so that the passenger door is underfoot. Then jump up to the carriage still hanging off the rails, grab the sleeper & pull yourself upwards. When standing upright the rest of the train carriages are likely to start to fall backwards off the rails (as there is none of the gold of El Dorado to counter-balance our hero), and so Nathan will need to run up the horizontal carriage before it also descends down the cliff.
When back on the cliff edge, Mr Hale can work out why he has furniture polish running through his veins not blood, and why the line “You’re only supposed to blow the bloody doors off” was really a punch-line to a joke about Jim Morrison
@6: [Mr M.]: The US version is 1080p? Interesting…

1080i not sure about p as my Bravia doesn’t support it (early adoptor *grumble*)
But download the US demo, go into display settings, then custom in the XMB and untick 720p, and behold Uncharted upscaled…
It looked better enough to me to warrant the import.

A truly fantastic trailer. Cannot wait for it!
Comment by Elliot — Dec 15, 2008 @ 9:35 pm
Finally took the plunge & bought a Bravia HD-TV a few weeks ago as an early Christmas present. Every time I load-up a previously owned Blu-ray title, it’s like having a “next gen” system all over again!
Finally got around to playing the single-player modes of “The Club” on Friday evening as I’d only played (offline) multi-player before then.
Much prettier on a new telly!
PS. Some screen shots from “Uncharted 2…”

@Monkey and Pages
Drakes Fortune was pretty enough to warrant myself saving up for an HD monitor - Hyundai W241D (PVA) just so that I could see it in glory!
Additionally this game is why I love ThreeSpeech

@5 and @7 : This is neither CG or Gameplay. It is however a cutscene rendered using Naughty Dog’s updated game engine, meaning gameplay rendered quality should only be slightly worse, which in anycase is miles better than Uncharted 1.
For alledgedly proper in-game screenshots and concept art, check out http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=345546
Some excellent shots there showing depth of field and very detailed texturing.

I’ve not played the first Uncharted…. I wonder if I’ll be able to cheek Santa up for a copy?!
Comment by Monkey Rimmer — Dec 16, 2008 @ 9:27 am
Can’t wait for this, the first was was awesome except for the zombies at the end.
U2 looks really nice and can’t wait to play but please no zombies.
Comment by anthonyp — Dec 16, 2008 @ 9:33 am
Looks amazing, shame they didn’t show us more! I reckon it will be some kind of daring climb either through the carriage (Jurassic Park 2 style) or up the side of the cliff to show off his new climbing abilities, possibly with a few quick-time events thrown in as things start falling/giving way. Either that or Sully/Elena will turn up just in time and bail him out!!!
@ 5 Ataru - nice try fanboy, but as has already been stated many times, including by the producers of the game, this is IN-GAME engine footage and is what the game will look like! Just like how the cutscenes in the original were created using the game engine and are almost indistinguishable from the actual gameplay, aside from the camera angle and additional character animations.
2009 is going to be a great year for AAA PS3 exclusives!!!
Comment by Apnomis — Dec 16, 2008 @ 10:41 am
looking crystal!
out of all the games that i have played on the ps3 uncharted 1 was probably the best exclusive.
this will be a preorder!

I’ve only just got Uncharted for my BDay, It’s a kick ass game, maybe a little rough is some small areas, but overall an amazing experience.
Very excited about Uncharted 2 with this excellent new trailer.
Comment by E-ROLE — Dec 16, 2008 @ 12:10 pm
Right then folks, let’s get one thing straight. The original is the only right handed controled game that I’ve managed to ever finish and enjoy whilst doing so. Admitedly, the first two plays through were on easy, but tell me how far you’d get if you were forced to use leftie controls? Anyway, the reason I this feat was even possible was because Uncharted was such a brilliant game. Beautiful lush eye candy, convincing characters, nice game play, and an adventure story that kept me coming back for more. Naughty, if you can continue that same broad focus, you’ll have another software sale right here.
Maybe I’d like to see a bit more of the vehicular schinanigens this time too.

Just seen those shots over at Gaf…
Umm… wonder what hair-gel Nate uses his hair never moves
I don’t use any “product” as my hair is always buzzed number 2, but if I did I would buy Uncharted brand gel…

@8 [me]:
For “Mr Hale” read “Mr Drake”! Ooops.
Too many lead characters with the forenames (or derivatives of) “Nathan”.
What next? “Def Jam Icon 2″ featuring Nathaniel Dawayne “Nate Dogg” Hale?
Hmmm… Nathan Hale… oooh… conspiracy theories at the ready.
I reckon Big Nate Dogg the wrestler would beat them all in a match-up though
But, yes, Mr M, Nathan Drake’s hair would still remain in place.

Bloomin’ ‘eck.
Lead character in upcoming title “Bionic Commando” (due on 24 April 2009)?
You guessed it…
First name: Nathan
(Surname: Spencer; nicknamed “RAD”… and voiced by Mike Patton, the former vocalist of Faith No More)
What next?
The family-friendly “Tomb Raider” featuring Lara “Nathan” Croft?
