The guys at Videogamer have put together an insightful review of Savage Moon, the new tower defence game on the PSN.
What’s the game about? Over to Videogamer… “You’re defending your moon base from alien insects, called Insectocytes. Thousands and thousands of the creepy, disturbing, disgusting, Insectocytes, who are all hell bent on worming their way towards your moon base and bringing it down in a soul-destroying boom. Think Starship Troopers spliced with PixelJunk Monsters and you’re halfway there.”

What do you think? Ready to defend your base from the alien menace?

This game will have to go a long way to beat “PixelJunk Monsters”, but if it is priced at the right level it should attract an audience from all those opening their new PS3 consoles on Christmas Day.
Not exactly an inspiring start to the review though:
“…Savage Moon, from little known Bristol developer FluffyLogic, is about as good as it’s going to get for just over six quid on PSN…”
Price it to compare to the “PixelJunk” titles & you’ll have a winner. Over-price it (and/or do not offer a Playable Demo) & this will be just another title amongst all those being bundled with PS3 machines at present by the online & high street retailers.
Hope there is a decent download to play over Christmas this year.
(Savage Moon” seems to be scheduled for a US ‘Store released on 23 December 2008:
[ ps3{dot}ign{dot}com/index/release.html ],
and “November 2008” in the UK:

Early December last year we were treated to Playable Demo versions of “Burnout Paradise”, “Kane & Lynch: Dead Men”, & “TimeShift”.
I’m still enjoying “Burnout Paradise” (the other two, well, maybe not as much!) & downloadable (and post-packaged retail pack) content due in the next few months will ensure I continue to do so for 2009 as well.
Festive fingers-crossed that we see a demo of “Resident Evil 5” this year

I would like a demo.
PixelJunk Monsters was fun, but I was not a huge fan and I do not think I really want to spend £6 buying the same style of game without trying it out first.
