Raiden Vs. Vamp action….Let he inuendo begin!

MGO, possibly the only game I’m stupidly good at.

@E-Role
Atm the main game i’m stupidly good at is Bad Company. Still got the best online multiplayer FPS action out there imo.
MGO i’m a bit poop at =( it “looks” fun i admit, but I just never got the hang of it.
@Comment made by Apnomis regarding SF4/Installs.
Valkyria Chronicles did a similar thing whereby you could “choose” to install content to speed up loading times…and on that note there was 1 game recently that wowed me - KILLZONE2. No install required or given AT ALL….and yet the look of it…wow…just wow…to have a game just stream casually from the Disc like that is impressive!
If it’s possible for a quality of game engine to run without any requirement for Install to the HD, it does make me curious about the Devil May Cry, MGS4, Heavenly Sword e.t.c. outings where the installs were pretty much mandatory.
With Devil May Cry as an example - why is it the 360 can run without an internal drive, yet the PS3 needs it - the comparison loading times even with the installed PS3 version are negligible….guess it all comes down to the speed of RAM and GPU in handling the on screen content and streaming….
Just another variation on hardware, and showcase for the lack of optimisation apparent in Game Dev between the different consoles.

@ JohnSketch
Is it not also something to do with the rate that the ps3 reads blu-ray compared to the speed xbox reads dvds?
Comment by hobojoe — Feb 20, 2009 @ 4:37 pm
@Hobojoe
It may just be my bad general knowledge (very plausible) but iirc DVD has about a 10Mbit transfer rate on 1x, and Blu-Ray a 36Mbits on 1x…
I agree though I’ve heard developers commenting on the read times but I can’t quite shake the fact the numbers says its faster….
The downside may be that the extra transfer rate is consumed through the uncompressed textures, geometry and character data? Whereas 360 compression is abundant on DVD-9.
My mind isn’t what it once was so feel free to disagree =)

Trying to work out how Raiden or Vamp will control? They’re hardly gonna play very similar to a 60-something year old Snake? Havn’t been interested in going through the process of booting up MGO for a while now, but i’d definately be interested in this. I’d say the biggest strength of MGO was the empowerment felt during the rare circumstance of being able to play as Snake… hope this is more of the same.
