Hi,
I’ve just exchanged a few PSN messages with Robothamster regarding the “TSR” clan name.
It has been suggested that we (also) have a regular time to meet up for some “friendly” (fire) matches once we have all found our virtual feet in “Killzone 2″.
We can then get some practice in on one another before challenging other clans & getting our bots (butts?) whipped.
(Unless you are into that kind of thing, in which case, whip crack away).
Is any (UK, for ease of reference) time any better/worse for all those interested? 8pm to 10pm, for instance? Aiming for most evenings, or will previously scheduled meet-ups to suit?
Without wishing to be biased or self-promoting, please feel free to use the forums at 1upGamers.com to arrange anything if it makes it easier than typing on the PS3 interface.

Unfortunately, you’re not the first to make the mistake comparing that site to 1upGamers.com.

I help out in an unpaid capacity for the love of gaming. Some may say that’s reward enough. We’ve had very busy times, some not-so busy times, and some very slack times. In the slack times I hang out other places (like here at ThreeSpeech).
Recognition amongst a peer group is more important than boxed sets full of promotional items & advance copies of forthcoming game titles, although I was grateful to be considered to be a member of Sony’s Best Test programme last year. If I were to receive such items you’d be sure I wouldn’t stick them on eBay & try to gain as much for them as some recipients have done.
I believe invitations to participate with the “Supercar Challenge” Beta Trials are being sent out at present, if anybody has expressed a preference in this area in the past, by the way.
But if you haven’t been selected for this, or indeed the recent testing of the SingStar wireless microphones, (like I wasn’t on either occasion) then maybe it will be [y]our turn next time.
Currently it is taking a great deal of effort not to convince myself that a Limited Edition ‘Blood’ Red Xbox 360 Elite bundled with “Resident Evil 5” has my name on it.
Purely for journalistic reasons, obviously. I *need* one to make a more rounded comparison across all the current generation of consoles.
I know… it doesn’t sound convincing does it?
Guess I’ll stick with my PS3 & several PSPs, even more PS2s, and the few original PlayStations I have then. It’s not such a hard life after all…

Resi5 i’m still umming and aahing over, likely I’ve just overplayed Resi4 and am most likely just feeling like the games more of the “same”…mentally i know it is a completely different game, with fleshed out storyline, engine, game-play mechanics e.t.c. but psychologically i’m thinking Resi 4.5. I want to give it what it deserves so it’ll be a rent/borrow to sample and then purchase upon that.
It’s the Co-Op experience more than anything that’ll sway me.
Well I say kudos to those perks at least! Beta testing is always a joy.
My only claims to fame in terms of beta testing in recent years were some MMO’s for sony back when the PS2 was king of the crop, some FPS betas (open) since and then Home and currently an Id title soon to be coming.
Nothing however as prestigious as an official “beta tester” which i’de be more than honest in saying would be a very curious job…would be something i’de be interested in poking my nose into just to see how it may go.
Journalism-wise ThreeSpeech is my only outlet for running commentary on the Interactive entertainment world, and saying that I probably spend an unhealthy amount of time here (not that anyone has noticed) ;). Saying that though, participating in the running “commentary” has definitely had its rewards and all of which I can only give a big thanks to the staff behind the scenes and all those on here for not flaming me whenever i post (which is always a bonus) as god knows if i were to post as I do on here in a place like GameSpot, GameTrailers, Kotaku, Eurogamer or wherever else…i’de have been shot down, moderated, banned and stripped of my kidneys.
Makes for a really nice atmosphere and dialogue option for me =)

Last night (or was it early this morning?) E-ROLE added me to the “TSR” (Three Speech Regulars / Terminate & Stay Resident) clan.
How many of us are included now, E-ROLE?
Is it (still) the case that there is a maximum of 32 players per match? And hence, does that mean for a balanced game that only 16 of us can play on one team at any one time?
(Presumably members of the same clan do not typically play against each other!)

You can receive an invite by the Clan leader, in-game, or if E-ROLE sends you one now, you can join on the Killzone web site.
…ShopTo{dot}net & Play{dot}com have come through with two of the three “Killzone 2″ pre-orders I placed.
Game{.co.uk} failed… only the second time (in a very long list) a pre-order has not reached me before (in some cases, a few days before) the official release date.
Oh well… one is all I need until the kids get home…

If E-ROLE doesn’t reply here (today), I suggest you contact him via your console’s XrossMediaBar by way of a message in the “Add a Friend” option requesting membership.
I played online for quite some time last night (after the initial hiccup with the “Communications Error”, and a “Network Error” midway through, but you would expect at least a little over-loading during the first few days).
E-ROLE is only just ahead of me in the ranking table now… but I am catching fast to make up the time he has had the game ahead of everybody else!
I have more kills but have died almost the same amount of times. Ooops. Highest headshot count out of the other clan members at present though 
I am impressed with the Statistics logged, not least their depth & detail (like “Resistance: Fall of Man” & “Resistance 2″ record) but also the speed that they are relayed back to the Killzone.com web site for review.
Also, the lights on the ISA not help me spot them now (in comparison to the Beta Trial where I found it difficult to distinguish Helghast & ISA characters apart). The in-game team balancing works well too. When somebody leaves mid-game, if the number of team members is then widely mismatched the game automatically switches somebody to redress the balance.
Talking of Statistics, the “TSR” clan is currently 71st out of 6430 clans [with 100 "Valor" point) and has *7* members...

Yes… E-ROLE, grenades are a, for want of a better word, killer.
The number of times you are sat lining up a shot to take out the sniper on the other team that is cutting down all your team trying to get to a mission-based objective, and then one of you team thinks throwing an incendiary device in a confirmed space closed on three sides is a good idea.
Sometimes it is just easier to take the hit for the team & start over hoping the silly individual won’t follow you next time.
On a related note… how many times do you find somebody who is “lost” in a map or stops to admire the scenery and just blocks a doorway?
Just get out of the chuffin’ way, man (or woman, probably both)!
There’s rumble falling from the ceiling, I have two enemies on my tail, only 3 bullets left in my handgun & you’re blocking the only exit.
Better still, why not just turn around & shoot?
I’ve used a few choice (swear) words whilst my microphone has been open that on retrospect perhaps weren’t kind.
But war isn’t friendly! Grrr!
