Good news for you and the one you love, now you can spend Valentine’s Day test-driving some of the wheeled beasts available on MotorStorm: Pacific Rift with the downloadable demo…
Get ready for another bite size dose of MotorStorm® Pacific Rift with a brand new single and multiplayer demo.
The demo features races on the infamous Razorback track, chosen by the veterans from MotorStorm.com forums as their favourite from the 16 circuits found across the island. With its thick jungle, colossal waterfalls, dank caves and a multitude of racing routes, the Razorback track is an ideal taster of the brutal off road thrills and spills MotorStorm: Pacific Rift has to offer.
Race alone against a bevy of brutal AI, or challenge your friend to a sofa smackdown in 2-player split screen. Either way, have fun and enjoy this new taster of MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, released on PlayStation®Store on 12 February 2009.
Demo features:
• Single player and 2 player split screen ‘brutal’ off road racing action
• 12 AI opponents in split screen race making for an even more frantic and compulsive racing experience with your friends
• Stunning next generation graphics bring the tropical island to life whilst you simultaneously trash it with your monster truck
• Festival style music including tracks from Ministry, Leftfield and the The Qemists
• A multi route track with shortcuts that not every vehicle should take!
• Race 3 different classes of vehicle - bike, buggy, and Monster truck - each with different racing styles to master or die trying!
• New cool down areas to allow more brutal boosting action when you need it most
Razoebac is definately a cool track, but nowhere near my favourite. I think Raingod Spire (from the first demo) is my favourite, with The Edge a close second. Now all they need to do is patch the game and I’ll get back to platniuming it. Just 8 trophies left, and only 1 of them is luck based.

@JS : I didn’t think the graphics were as good as the first game? Or maybe I’m playing too much Burnout Paradise.

@blanche
I usually find that after having seen the visual for MotorStorm when it was first released going “wow…thats pretty”..as I hadn’t seen anything like it.
With the sequel it _IS_ technically better visually, but the giant leap of “wow what a difference!!!!” is no longer there as its only a little bunny hop visually.
Bit like Gears of War - the first game = holy omg wowzorz, the second game “its better than the original…but not as wowzorz”
Least thats how it looks and feels to me

The original demo featured the worst track from the game - not a good way to introduce people to your game! Anyway, I have the full game and I haven’t had much chance to play it actually but it is very good. Hopefully the new demo presents a better picture of the quality of the game - this game deserves to sell well.

OK, played the demo 2.0 and i have to say ignore that first demo totally. it is better than that. not sure it is better than Pure though in terms of handling and graphics, just personal pref’s i guess. seeing as i usually race in MS using the bikes and ATV’s i guess i am going to like a dedicated racer better. the split screen in MS is a nice touch though.
holding out for Fuel later this year

new toy for your PS3
http://www.amazon.co.uk/3-1-Media-Remote-PS3/dp/B001KZH63S/ref=pd_nr_vg_h__12?ie=UTF8&s=videogames
a blu-ray/dvd remote with a flip out keyboard. sweet!
Multimedia Remote from Competition Pro. Not only do you have complete control over your Blu-rays and DVD’s, but you can also flip out the keyboard and easily type messages to your friends. The Multimedia Remote connects to your PS3 Console through a wireless USB receiver. The Stylish design matches your PS3, so it wont fill out of place when displayed next to your console.
shame it’s not bluetoothed, but i’ll be getting one anyway, i need a ps remote.

@reakt
The worst tracks in the game are Wildfire and Badlands, not the one from the first demo. They have no tight turns, and are 100% open straightaways. The result is no opportunity to pass, unless someone messes up, but at my level, no one messes up, so if you start in 12th, you finaish in 12th.

@ reakt, the first demo wasn’t great. The new demo is a big improvement, but still doesn’t do the game justice IMO. I’m surprised RazorBack won the public vote, it’s not my favourite that’s for sure, but still better than the original demo. I know they can’t give away too much in a demo, but it would have been nice to have a bigger car choice (I’m not a fan of the buggy) and maybe even include an Elimator or Check Point round to show the gameplay variety.
@ Moses, I like the Badlands level! There’s loads of different routes you can take, it’s one of the most open tracks in the game. I’m no good with the names, but from memory I think my favourite tracks are Cascade Falls and Riptide. I also like The Edge, just for the sheer fun of driving on a narrow track on the edge of a cliff! In fact I pretty much like them all, I find some more frustrating than others (like that factory one) but there are none I would actively avoid playing on.
P.S. You’ve got to love the fact they’ve named one of the Fire events - “Red Ring of Death”, bit of a prod at the competition do you think?
@’tone, that’s a nice idea for a remote, although of less use to me as I have an Official Keypad. But do you happen to know how it assigns itself to the PS3? I ended up getting a PS3 accessories pack as a Christmas present (the extra long USB cable being the most useful) but it included a cheap USB IR dongle remote. At first I thought this would be great for linking the PS3 to may Universal Remote, however the dongle would always assign the Remote as controller 1, so you would continuously need to Reassign your proper controller before you could play a game.
Needless to say that it became too annoying to leave in all the time - so unless you get in the habit of plugging in the dongle as you go to insert a Blu-ray/DVD and unplug it when you’ve finished it really isn’t much use.
