Free Realms is an upcoming free-to-play MMO developed by Sony Online Entertainment (SOE), who have a ton of experience in the genre. The game looks like it’s going to have a lot of depth/immersion and should appeal to a broad audience. Here are some brand new screenshots for this excitingly ambitious PS3 release.

“It’s acronym time… Images of Free Realms, SOE’s MMO…”
Shouldn’t that be:
“It’s abbreviation time…”
?
Abbreviations are when the letters are said one by one, for example: MMO (pronounced em, em, oh).
Acronyms are when the letters are said as a word, for example: UNICEF (pronounced, you-knee-seff).

@ Grammar nerd… Not sure it’s that simple - abbreviations are also shortened words (e.g, abbr, blvd, capt). What you’ve got there is an initialism - which is provided as a secondary meaning for acronym in most dictionaries (though admittedly not all and presumably not in yours).

Thanks for flagging it up though, you’re very kind.

Cool!
I love word association football.
Why does the word ‘abbreviation’ have so many letters?
Why is ‘Dyslexia’ so hard to spell?
Are disabled toilets really broken?
What word is spelt incorrectly in this sentence?
(This will no doubt separate the purists from the comedic amongst us)

I didn’t want to confuse matters by introducing intialisms, as for the purpose of your title, all that really needs pointing out is that SOE and MMO are not actually acronyms.
