Good update but.
Ouch, A 140% increase in Buzz questions and Ps1 Games prices.
I gland there’s a recession or it could have been more like 300%.

Largest Update Ever! I remember all the bitching and moaning this time last year. Aahh the memories.

Get your pricing sorted SCEE, it is getting outrageous.
Comment by Big Gareth — Oct 24, 2008 @ 11:23 am
I love the way Mega Man 9 add-ons are £1.19 in the UK and $0.99 in the US. Thats roughly £0.61, meaning we are paying double the price. Even with the economic difference thats stupid.

Comment by ErMurazor — Oct 24, 2008 @ 11:59 am
@Mostyn
You need to work on your maths. £3.49 to £3.99 is a 14% increase.

And guys, buy NOVASTRIKE ,support the indies
(Its a hard game tough)
Comment by Fersis — Oct 24, 2008 @ 1:16 pm
Why has the cost gone up? £8 for Prince of Persia seems expensive too. I would have been sold for a fiver.
Comment by TheFamousKevin — Oct 24, 2008 @ 1:16 pm
@TheFamousKevin, I agree, same happened with The Last Guy, their loss as it’s impulse buy software, nothing more. I really want Novastrike to be good, but reviews say otherwise on the whole.
Hoff in Pain everyone, soon come.
Comment by MrJimmy — Oct 24, 2008 @ 1:43 pm
It is’nt bad, not as good as last weeks. But why should I complain, it’s free! Still busy on Wipeout and I’m getting farcry and deadspace soon. wish there were demos
Comment by E-ROLE — Oct 24, 2008 @ 1:43 pm
meh not as good as the US store BUT I do appreciate we got some stuff at the same time as the US. Kep p the good work but please try a little harder.
Comment by Carl(threespeech censored me) — Oct 24, 2008 @ 1:55 pm
Less trailors, more demos please.
Can anyone explain to me why there are so few demos for upcoming releases? Surely it’s in the company’s interests to pass some to SCEE for us to try before we buy.
Comment by Aragorn1001 — Oct 24, 2008 @ 2:07 pm
I’m enjoying Prince of Persia Classic and good to see it released here at the same time as in the US (albeit at a higher price than our yankey-doodle cousins across the pond have to pay for it).
Comment by reakt — Oct 24, 2008 @ 2:16 pm
To focus in on Soul Cal. Yoda is a little expensive and not half as good as Vadar(i imagine a lot of xbox players are now relishing in what theyve been missing, surely they got vadar when we got yoda?). But really, does anybody know when we’re getting these other add’on’s for soul calibur? It’s halloween next week and I quite like the novelty of giving my characters pumpkin heads. New pain level looks pretty decent, cant believe how quickly theyve done this level compared to how long the theme park took to arrive, good stuff indeed.

I was going to get POP:Classic but there is no way I’m paying £7.99 for it!!!!
It almost makes me wish Sony would introduce a points system with a fixed exchange rate.
POP:Classic is 800 points on LIVE - and it’s been out for well over a year.
Now Americans have nothing to worry about as 800 = $10, and POP PSN is $10. But in the UK 800 points = £6.80, which means PS3 owners are paying £1.19 more for having to wait an extra 16 months!
Although to be fair the pound is weakening against the dollar, and whereas in the summer it was $2 to the poind, it’s now nearer $1.58 to the pound. So $9.99 = £6.32 + 17.5% VAT = £7.43, which is not a million miles out.
Still, much like gas/electricity companies and petrol companies, they’re quick to up the prices but I bet they’ll not be so quick to lower them if things go the other way…

What’s Novastrike?
Comment by Buntycollocks — Oct 24, 2008 @ 10:09 pm

I know the exchange rates have changed rapidly this week, but it doesn’t give me more money in my pocket, and I don’t see why I need to fork out £3 more than I think is reasonable for a game I would only pick up on an impulse. I love PSN games for £5 - I just can’t help even buying ones I don’t want. This is the reason I didn’t buy echochrome.
I know you weren’t supporting this policy, but I just wanted to attack the argument, and you made it.
Comment by TheFamousKevin — Oct 25, 2008 @ 9:07 am
@Apnomis, TheFamousKevin…
I’ll summarise for you, its too damn expensive Sony sort it out! The only game I have bought on purpose was Wipeout everything else has been through thinking “what the hell its a few quid”. I don’t mind buying something for a fiver and thinking its crap after a few plays, anything more than that I’m not so happy about.
In general I’m getting annoyed with how this credit cruch is putting the costs of everything up when in reality it should be doing the opposite what with us having less money in our pockets now and demand going down.
Comment by Terry G — Oct 25, 2008 @ 9:58 am
@ TheFamousKevin & Terry G,
I’m agreeing with you guys!!! I’ve always said £5 was the magic number for impluse games, and it bugs me that companies like Capcom Charge £7, and Ubi has lost my business (and many others) by charging £8 for a 21 year old game (regardless of have pretty they’ve made it look).
All I was doing was trying to give a balanced arguement so I didn’t sound like a whinging fanboy saying “It’s not fair it should be cheaper!”
As far as I’m concerned companies like Ubi should swallow the exrate changes or hedge them. The PSN has set a precedent for £4.99 and £3.49 titles and anything over that will feel expensive.
They’re no way they’d try to up $9.99 titles to $12.99 titles in the States, so why do they think they can get away with it in the EU?
All we can do is just not buy it, if companies sell 500,000 copies at £5 or 200,000 at £8, then it makes them more money to sell it at £5, it’s as simple as that.
I only wish ThreeSpeech was more like the Official US Blog as there’d be more chance of Ubi or other publishers reading this…
Comment by Apnomis — Oct 25, 2008 @ 2:44 pm
I agree, the prices are getting too high, I’ve really gone off downloads since my first ps3’s bluray drive broke - all my singstore downloads had to be refunded and repurchased, and i lost money as i was not refunded the full amount.
It worries me when games go over that £5 barrier because I own no physical media, and 20 years down the line if I fancy a retro play on my old ps3 I wanna be certain that I still own all the software I paid good money for.
I’m getting a bit peeved with sony in general tbh, I got my ps3 over a year ago now because of all the hype they were giving home and it’s still not even arrived.
Comment by Lee — Oct 26, 2008 @ 1:55 pm
For the price of PoP Classic you might expect trophies at least! Especially as the XBLA version had achievements!
